Effective ways to deal with Anger
Anger is a totally normal healthy human emotional state. It is a feeling that makes one feel as though you are at the mercy of a formidable emotion which is volatile. It is a typical reaction to an attack, put-down, frustration or deceit. Anger could be useful but any time it gets out of control it might become destructive. As a human being, when you become angry, adrenalin causes your body to get ready for a fight by supplying you energy and making you feel tense. Releasing this energy is healthy for your body but could become difficult. In many cases fighting back or running away is not helpful. Being angry per se is not a problem but, you should learn how to handle anger and manage it.
Take a breather and relax.
Before reacting to an uneasy situation and deciding on the next course of action it is good to step back and reflect on what is happening. Relaxation methods such as deep breathing can help calm down angry feelings. Visualizing a relaxing experience (also referred to as relaxing imagery) from either pure imagination or from your memory can serve to help in anger management.
Search for a possible remedy.
Do not rush to respond in a manner that can blow up the tension and evoke an uncivil response. Allow other parties present to have their say and comprehend all factors before delivering your personal opinion. If possible you should walk away from the situation or particular person until your stress simmers down.
Take out your rage on something innocuous.
When little ones get angry, they throw fits and strike any surface that is near them. Maybe you can do it their way. A boxing bag or a cushion is most appropriate. Believe it is the person you are mad at and beat it up. Try to keep it around you so whenever you feel like blowing up you hit it.
Verbalize your anger when you are levelheaded.
As soon as you start thinking clearly, you are good to go at expressing your stress in a self-confident but non-confrontational manner. Plainly and directly express your thoughts, without abusing others.
Physical exercise.
Physical exercise can be a fantastic outlet for your emotions, particularly if you feel like you are about to erupt. You can take a walk or run or start doing your favored sports. This helps in stimulating brain chemicals that can leave you feeling healthier and a lot more relaxed.
Consult others.
It's healthy to express your frustrations to people, be patient with them even if they can't appreciate your annoyances.
Smile.
This is among the most useful anger ideas you can use anytime and exercise with anyone. A warm and friendly smile (obviously not a sarcastic one) works like magic to drop a mad mood and give you a more desirable one. Try it.
