Tips For A Sober And Healthier You

If you are wondering how to add some quality to your life, there are things that you need to give up. You have to cut down your stressful habits and the things that often stress you emotionally and physically.

Examples of these include:

a. Alcohol: An alcoholic drink is a big "no" for those who want to live with minimum stress. Alcohol may appear to be relaxing for some individuals because it give them reasons to sit down, watch TV or catch up with their friends during breaks. But, alcohol contains ingredients that increases stress levels, decrease body resistance against infection and cause diseases. Alcohol can cause liver cirrhosis, cardiac diseases and other types of organ disorders. So, a relaxing drink may prove to be the worst drink of all. It is because of the stress alcoholic drinks would cause you and the ailments that you can suffer.

b. Illicit drugs: Not every addict really wanted to be addicts at the onset. Not all addictive drugs are illicit substances. In fact, many of them became dependents on the drugs because of habitual use. Such habit came about due to a person's use of the drugs not for recreational purposes but because of its medical use. Examples of these are painkillers and antidepressants. As the individual uses the drugs, he or she may develop tolerance. As a result, that person may increase the drug dose to achieve the desired effect. So, if a person started using an antidepressant at a lower dose, he or she may increase the dose overtime because the initial dose no longer gives the same relief.

Addictive drugs can cause severe signs of withdrawal as well as major health problems due to chronic abuse. Examples of these conditions include diseases of the liver, heart, respiratory organs, reproductive organs, renal system and circulatory system. Addictive drugs can also cause skin problems and other types of diseases. Bear in mind that drugs are chemicals which can cause alterations in body functions and increase toxicity inside the body.

c. Unhealthy eating habits. Did you ever wonder why junk foods are called junk? The reason is simple. There is nothing good about it. You are simply piling up garbage in your stomach and adding stress to your digestive system. Although it is alright to indulge in junk foods once in a while, it may not be good for you if you keep on eating the same kind of stuff regularly. Eating healthy meals is not only advisable to people who want to be slim and chic. It goes for everyone who wants to live a healthy life.

Every day, we need food to energize us and to maintain proper body functions. We need foods rich in essential minerals and vitamins that will boost our immune system, support metabolism and encourage proper circulation. We get these from food sources like vegetables, fruits, fish and meat. Although there are products with labels that state that these junk foods are fortified with iron or other nutrients, still-fortification will not make it less salty or less "junk". So, if you really want to achieve a healthy body, choose foods that your nutritionist will never complain about.
