You'd think that everyone, men in this case, would understand that after dating for a reasonable amount of time, the next step should be proposing. After waiting for so long for something that doesn't seem to be happening anytime soon, women tend to give up and lose interest in the relationship. Getting engaged for women means a lot and that the couple is moving in the right direction but this view does not relate well with men. It is important to note that men think way differently than we do and he might be having fears that come about with the wedding bells. Most of them think that it will mean being tied down for life or having responsibilities that they never had before. Once you understand this, you will be able to strategize properly on ways to get him to propose.
If you haven't, introduced him to your family yet, this is the time to do so. It is a sign of a serious relationship and after a while if he hasn't proposed yet, he will seem like he's taking you for granted. This might nudge him to pop the question in order to keep the new formed friendship with your family. It is important to note that he will propose in this case if he had initially accepted that it is you that he wanted to marry. However, if it's not you he wants, then not even this will not make him do it.
Be appealing to him right from the word go when the relationship kicks off. The way you behave and carry yourself will make him see the kind of person you will be even after marriage. Start nagging and being clingy now and you can definitely kiss that engagement ring goodbye. Do your best to remain likeable and tolerable and he will want to spend eternity with you. Stop being too desperate and hung up on the issue. The more you nag and keep at it ,after he's clearly let you know he doesn't want to discuss it at that particular moment, the more interest he will lose. Learn the best way to bring it up which is in a conversation and in the right time. Don't keep insisting, and if by chance he tells you of his plans like; he wants to get married at a certain time, respect it. Trying to convince him otherwise will not work.
When it's all said and done, there are some things that we just shouldn't do to get him to propose. Giving ultimatums will definitely back fire and fail your attempts. Men hate ultimatums because they feel like they are being forced in to something. This can only end in a certain way and that is rebellion because they need to protect their ego and pride. Many women result to this in a 'push comes to shove' kind of situation. It never yields any fruits and if by chance he does, it might spell doom on your relationship. He might change for the worst afterward as a way to teach you a lesson.
