Programs are planned well in order for abusers develop new skills and habits that increase the percentage of maintaining a sober life. The following are some of the fun activities offered by treatment centers which are benefial to addicts in terms of achieving successful recovery.
Icebreakers
Icebreakers create a positive attitude for treatment. It helps patient to feel comfortable with one another and gap is decreased. It could also eliminate racial and social discrimination that will enhance co-operation and good interpersonal relationships. Games that could foster disclosure of information are great. This will help clients feel free to open their selves without any fear of judgment. Games that could build rapport and promote trust are recommended for the patients. If done properly these activities will be beneficial for clients.
Confession Circles
Confession allows sharing of worries, failures in life, problems, mental and physical battles and anything that they think could hinder them in their struggle towards a sober life. This activity will help patients gain support and encouragement from each other. This will motivate each of them to continue their journey towards a drug-free life because they're not alone. They will share the happiness of each other's victories and share each other's failures.
Role Playing
Role playing is meant to guide clients on how to react when confronted by difficult situations. They will learn how to handle situations like dealing with drug abuse temptations outside the healthcare center. They will be taught through dialogues on how to face people who doubt their desire to live a life free from addictive substances. They will also practice what to say to family members or loved ones who are hurt because of their addiction.
Sharing
Talent sharing such as poetry and music could help patient express their feelings. They could share their family life, life stories, loved ones or friends through lyrics and music. They could compose songs that could relate to drug and alcohol abuse, physical or mental abuse, happiness, love and determination to succeed in their struggles. They could share it to the group and explain how they relate to the song. This will be very useful to the client's deal with their hidden feelings.
There are many helpful exercises that could help patients in their path towards a clean life. Drug treatment centers could be a happy experience while on recovery.
