I am amazed at the amount of conversations I facilitate with people who state 'Yeah, yeah, I know that, but', yet knowledge without application is redundant. So I ask you, 'What is the point in investing in knowledge, unless you APPLY what you have learnt?'.
I meet many people in my line of work who invest a lot of money into their own personal development yet they do not experience the level of transformation they want - this is just ludicrous in my mind. It's like taking out a gym membership and not going to the gym yet you are still expecting the results to show up???
I have spent the best part of 2.5 decades exploring the phenomenon of 'transformation'. Why some experience it and other's don't. I believe that the only thing stopping people experiencing the transformation they seek is 'applying what they know BEYOND what I call their 'DEFAULT IDENTITY'. The disempowered identity we feed daily which keeps our past in our future.
It saddens me that so many people are unaware of this identity and less know how to master it. I see countless highly trained people who hang out in confusion as to why, x,y,z book, product, cd, course hasn't produced the results they sought.
Seminar Leaders, Authors, Coaches, Speakers cannot take responsibility for making people apply what they advocate, they can only enroll them into a possibility. That being said it fascinates me that the human psyche loves staying in confusion as to why it is the way it is. Confusion in my world is a function of the 'default (disempowered ) identity'. Confusion enables us to relinquish responsibility, perfect strategy from the defaults perspective.
I am left with wondering why if someone had a formula to solve the worlds ills would people not want to apply it? Why, because they would have to die to this identity, then who would they be? The irony, they are frightened to stay with the known world and also frightened to explore the unknown world, crazy! How's that for a ludicracy cycle!
If we are to agree that this is correct, then why would people want to say in one breath that they wish to transform when in the other, given who they are being in the world, do the opposite. Transformation is simplistic but we as humans complicate it. It's a bit hard hitting when I say to a client, 'where you spend your time and energy is a function of your commitment'. So if you do not want to transform then get straight about that and save yourself some money.
A bug bear of mine are those that constantly seek transformative solutions outside of themselves yet are not interested in applying what they already know. Let alone any new teachings.
There is an undercurrent of arrogance in the personal development industry where many believe they are above others, evolved, conscious and yet use this egoic behavior to dominate others. I can smell a talker versus a walker a mile off. What do I mean by this? A talker is someone who talks the talk but does not walk the walk. Vast difference between the two. Sadly, being 'spiritual' has received a bad rap as a result of those that frame their 'enlightened state' in this terminology.
To walk the walk does not mean you have to be 'super human' but is does mean, in my books, being clean and I am not talking about hygiene here. Being clean: Where you are not 'out' anywhere in your life. You operate at a high degree of integrity. You are authentic, no false forsade.
If I could get $1000 dollars for the amount of times I hear people saying:-
Sally, I know this stuff so WHY…..
Sally, the stupid thing is I know all of this BUT….
Sally, I am tired of investing in myself and not getting the results….
Sally, I know fear doesn't exist and I have had enough evidence BUT..
Sally, I know my thing is around money BUT….
Sally, I know if I let go it will all work out BUT….
Sally, I know I am sabotaging the situation BUT….
Sally, I know if I trusted my faith again all would be revealed BUT…
Sally, I know if I let him in I would experience love BUT….
Sally, I know I deserve to be loved BUT…
Sally, I know I want to lose weight BUT…
And the list goes on, what's with the BUT people! ?????
I ask again, what is the point of knowing stuff unless you apply it to get the benefit of the original investment? You do your version you will get your version of results.
