Anxiety is a sense of apprehension or fear caused by reaction to outside stimuli that are negative in nature. Everyone experiences anxiety in their lives. Children and also adults face challenges which create emotional distress. Managing challenges may be difficult for lots of people and not every person can adjust to sudden changes in their life. There are 6 common types of anxiety that are commonly observed among people.

Separation Anxiety

According to research, children experience this type of anxiety more often than adults especially when they're in places which are not familiar to them. Phobias

This is a type of anxiety disorder which is characterized by fear towards something that actually poses less or no harm at all. Post traumatic stress disorder

Some individuals experienced PTSD when they have been molested at a very young age. Some individuals who go through very painful experiences often have a hard time getting back to their normal way of living. Some of these victims resolve to bad coping mechanism like alcohol and drug addiction in order to escape from the past. Excessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessions are recurring and persistent thoughts in spite of large efforts to subdue them. Coupled with the compulsion to do a habit repeatedly in order to relieve the anxiety are characteristics of excessive compulsive disorder. Individuals who suffer from OCD often are anxious or uneasy over a certain habit unless it is done repeatedly. Examples are hand washing every few minutes or nail biting are common OCD behaviours.

Panic Disorder

Panic disorders are characterized by intense fear of a dangerous experience or happening. People who have panic disorders are restless, uneasy, and may get dizzy and have chest pains. Panic attacks usually last between ten-twenty minutes. Some people are given prescription medications to manage panic disorders. Medicines for anxiety target to create a sense of comfort and well-being to the user. Individuals who are consistently using medication for their panic attacks may develop addiction after prolonged use. In this case, two problems must be addressed. There are also many drug rehabilitation programs that provide therapy to people who are suffering from panic disorder and addiction.

Generalized Anxiety Disorder

This type of disorder is the most common and people who have this often have fear towards no particular object or situation. Sometimes, ordinary events are being feared at without valid reason. Genes play a role also towards identifying individuals who are most likely to have this condition. Counseling and therapy for this kind of condition is usually advised in order to allow the person to determine causes of fear and then eliminate it if no known danger or harm is discovered. Medication may be advised in some cases where a person can no longer go through daily living because of intense fear of no known cause.
