Well, yes and no. The yes is; of course you are going to feel a whole heck of a lot of negative emotions that can plague your every waking hour when going through a divorce or breakup. This is normal. Yes, the pain isn't only real it seems like it becomes who you are. And, yes these are very real and painful emotions and feelings that you have to deal with.

The no is; any adversity can throw us into another world which has a direct and powerful impact on how we feel. But the bigger impact on how you feel is how you choose to deal with it - what perspective you choose.

Now granted, grieving is a process and one that takes some time to get through.

But as you are moving through the process the three factors that will help you move on sooner rather than later are what I have come to find are the top 3 reasons that people either do or don't move on from a broken heart.

1.Your Thoughts! Let me break this down for you. Your beliefs become your thoughts. Your thoughts determine how you feel and how you feel will be how you experience anything you are going through. Your thoughts can make you or break you. They can make heaven out of hell or hell out of heaven.

2.Your Thoughts! We think some 60,000 thoughts a day and most of them go unnoticed. Our thoughts are like a broken record playing in our minds. And many of these thoughts are negative, limiting and depressing. We go over and over, why, what if and if only. We relive conversations, scenarios and replay them as if we were Steven Spielberg editing his next blockbuster. But the only block that is getting busted is your head!

3.Your Thoughts! If you learn how to flip the destructive thoughts to the kinds of thoughts that will serve you and pull you up instead of dragging you down, you will have the number one key that can change everything. Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change!

Once you truly grasp the concept of the power of your thoughts you will be able to take back control of your life instead of allowing life to control you. Your mind is one of the most powerful forces you possess. Use this divine gift to take your life to the next level.

I admit it. I'm frustrated. I'm tired of getting emails from people who write, "I can't do what you did because ___."

Just fill in the blank with whatever excuse you can think of.

People say they can't write as many books as I have because they don't have the time, or they're too old, or too young, or too married, or too single.

People say they can't make their book a best-seller like I did because their book is different, or they're different, or the timing is different.

People say they can't ask celebrities for endorsements because they feel insignificant, or insulting, or imposing.

The list of excuses is endless. Here are some more actual ones I've received:

"You're more famous than me. I could never write people and ask for their help, as they wouldn't give me the time of day."

I started asking people for help, advice, input, suggestions and direction when I was a teenager. I have letters from FBI king J. Edgar Hoover, boxing legend Jack Dempsey, and master magician John Mulholland. I was certainly unknown then. Yet people always helped me. I've managed to connect with Evel Kneivel, Donald Trump, Jimmy Carter, best-selling authors and more--- and I did it before anyone knew my name. I simply ASKED for their help. They were kind and replied. Today I'm doing the same for anyone who writes me who sounds sincere and respectful.

"You have a large network of people to ask for things."

Yes, I do. NOW. But I didn't when I first started. I developed my network by building relationships. I reached out to people, helped them, they helped me, and trust was formed. Because I've nurtured my relationships online for almost ten years now, a bond is set. When I announce that I want contributions for a new book, my network responds. When they want something, I respond. I've seen people take classics of literature---now in the public domain and available as e-books---and offer them as incentives for prospects to buy their product. It works. How do you find them? SEARCH.

"I can't teach an e-class like you because I have no credentials."

Your credentials are you. They are your life experiences more than anything else. Few today care about whether you have a degree or any other credential. They care if you can deliver on whatever you promise. My lifemate, Nerissa, is about to teach an online video editing class. Anything you can teach off-line can be taught on-line. With video, audio, graphics, text, and chat rooms, you can have a virtual classroom on ANYTHING you can imagine. Why not?

"I can't make money selling my stuff on the Internet."

Look around. The Internet is so big and vast and even incomprehensible that truly anything can be sold online. I've seen people sell tumble weeds and buggy whips, greeting cards and computer generated art. Anything sold off-line can be sold on-line. Go look at Ebay. People sell cars, used clothes, dirt and even snow there. I once sold an "Elvis Mermaid" at Ebay. (You can see a picture of it at www.mrfire.com ) Are there really any limits to what can be sold online?

"I missed the right time to sell my idea."

Really? Just look at the title of one of my books: "There's A Customer Born Every Minute." A new crowd of prospects appears every single day. You can sell virtually anything at virtually any time if you think of what people want and cater to them. Sometimes you have to think of other uses for the same product, or other audiences than what you originally had in mind. But the best time to sell what you have is now. What are you waiting for?

"You live in America and I live in Mexico and selling doesn't work here."

Give me a break. Friends of mine always go to Mexico (and other countries said to be behind us) and they come home with truck loads of things they bought. Besides that, with the Internet, where you live is almost meaningless. Take your product and go online. Then you're not selling to your poor neighbors, but to the entire planet. Think BIG.

The list goes on and on.

To me, excuses are the #1 thing people do wrong -- online and off. While all of these excuses seem legit to the person saying them, they are virtually all hogwash.

Excuses are beliefs. If you buy into them, you're stuck. If you believe instead that there's always a way around whatever the excuse is, then you'll move forward. My philosophy is, "There is ALWAYS a way."

So let me try to help you here.

First, what are your excuses?

When I began this article by asking the question, "I can't do what you did because ---", what did you say? How did you complete the sentence? Those are some of your excuses.

Second, ask yourself if there's any way on earth to get around your excuses. In other words, are the excuses you stated real or imagined? Have you tried to get past any of them? Has anyone else, ever, gotten past the same excuses?

Finally, what would you do if you had no excuses?

Whatever your answer, get out there and JUST DO IT.

Leave your excuses behind and your prosperity will begin to come to you.

Leave your excuses behind and you can achieve success, too.

Leave your excuses behind and your life will begin to soar.

If you don't act now, why not?

Whatever your answer, THAT'S an excuse.

4 Things That Bring True Happiness

How does one find true happiness? Is it found in the accumulation of power, wealth and fame? Is it in finding the love of your life, or having a beautiful family? Or will a good and fulfilling job bring you the best type of happiness?

When you come to think about it, people are faced with different sets of circumstances and situations, yet each one manages to find joy in whatever they are given. What may seem important to one, may have no value to another. What may be fulfilling to some may be frustrating to another. So how does one find true happiness?

Happiness is something you design in the present, for enjoyment in the future. But before you can be truly happy, you must feel joy from within. Below are some ways you can achieve that elusive inner joy.

Focus on things that truly matter. You only got one life to live - stop focusing your energies being busy, lonely and miserable! There are a lot of things that will irritate you, test your patience and cause you to be angry - but you must realize that these things are temporary. Stop focusing on problems. Start imagining all the beautiful things in your life which truly matter. Like the old saying, "stop letting things that don't matter, matter." Do this and you will find yourself infinitely happier.

Embrace life's challenges. There will be lots of detours in life which will make your journey longer, and harder. But you must realize that all these little things help you learn valuable lessons in life. It may be confusing and disorienting at times, but it challenges you to achieve things which you never knew possible. Only until you've gone through the worse will you know how to deal with the hurdles thrown your way. It may actually be enlightening to see yourself through difficult times, because you are forced to go beyond your personally-set limitations.

Limit your time with negative people. The surest way to become miserable and unhappy is to surround yourself with people who are even more unhappy! Remember the saying, "misery loves company?" Well, it's because anybody lonely will become lonelier when with another miserable person. You will feed off each other's unhappiness… so scoot and go find yourself the happiest people you know. They will truly convince you that there's more to life than frowns and scowls.

Accept what is, and live for the possibilities that lie ahead. Are you the type of person who keeps on thinking about what happened in the past? Well, no matter how long you spend staring at your past, there's no changing it anymore. Accept the now, and look into the possibilities that are in front of you. Stop thinking of what would have, could have and should have - think of reality, and move on from the past. Remember, if something was never meant to be, then it really won't.

There are a lot of things you can do to move on from heartache but while in the midst of emotional turmoil sometimes you just can't think straight. Your heartache becomes a veil that clouds your judgment and blinds you from taking the right steps.

When going through the end of a relationship there are certain things that will help you move on sooner rather than later. And unfortunately, we often do what makes us hold on to hope and move on later instead.

Here are 3 ways to let go and move on from heartache. I have found that when common sense is nowhere to be found you need to reach out for guidance to help you see your way through the pain.

Acceptance is the first step in letting go of the past. When you finally let go of all of the wishing, hoping and praying that things will be different and accept the reality of your situation is when you will begin to pick up the pieces.

The opposite of accepting what is, is resisting it. And what you resist persists which causes you to suffer. Holding on to the past causes you to expend so much negative energy that can be converted into healing energy when you find acceptance.

Forgiveness is one of the toughest things to do, but at the same time when you find forgiveness it is the most freeing thing you can do. Forgive the other person and yourself for your perceived or real notions of what they or you have done wrong.

We all make mistakes in life but the bigger mistake is holding onto the fact that a mistake was made. Holding onto mistakes turns them into regrets and regrets are a complete waste of time. When you allow yourself to find forgiveness for the wrongs committed; it is a gift you give yourself.

Believe in a better future. Where you go from here will unfold in time. But what will get you to a brighter future sooner is when you believe life will go on and it will be a good life. Whether you believe your life will be good again or if you believe it will only be bad, is a choice.

Instead understand that sometimes life throws us painful adversities to deal with, but know that you have the power and strength within you to pick up the pieces and move on to a better place. When you begin to believe it you will see it.

These are a few of the things that will help you climb out of the emotional well you have sunk down into. We all make choices in life and all of our choices come with consequences. The consequence of holding onto the past is that it prolongs your pain until you choose to let go.

By accepting, forgiving and believing in a better future; these 3 actions will help you heal your broken heart and move on down the path along your journey called life. Adversity knocks on everyone's door and only you can decide how long you will invite it in or tell it it's time to leave.

How To Get Better Grades In School

How does it feel when you get back a test that you studied hours for? You sacrificed going out with your friends and then got back a horrible grade? What about spending weeks or maybe even months studying for a big exam and then got back lackluster scores?

I know this feeling too well. This was my story my first year of college at UC Berkeley. My first year at college, I spent my time studying and got the worst test scores. I was determined to turn this around though. I didn't get accepted into one of the best schools in the country only to get bad grades.

My last year I studied the least amount. I was able to go to lots of parties and got better grades. I finally learned with a great deal of committment and dedication how to improve my test scores and ended up getting the best grades my senior year. My professor wanted me to be his Teaching Assistant.

If you are a college student then being able to improve your test scores can drastically alter the course of your life. Maybe you aren't trying to get into graduate school but you have the need to achieve or make your family proud of you. Learning how to take good notes, read the tests properly can result in getting the grades you want and knew you deserve.

Thoughts Are Not Facts

I can't tell you how often I hear people say things to me when describing themselves, their situation, their perfect partners and their lives that simply aren't true. In reality, they are lies.

Sorry, but, they make things up in their minds as if what they are saying is true and they spout them out with such passion and emotion that you may even start to believe them too.

They typically repeat these thoughts to themselves over and over again and speak them aloud to whoever will listen. It's like self-brainwashing. They can go on and on about how great their ex was, how good their relationship was, and how they'll never meet anyone that they'll love like them.

Or, they'll put themselves down and say things like; how they are a loser, a failure, will never meet anyone again, will never find a job, never lose weight, will never get what they want from life etc.

When the truth is that many of these people are very successful and not failures, they aren't losers- the only thing they've lost is a sense of who they really are, the other person wasn't that great and if they are honest with themselves they'd see it too.

And, the only way they won't meet someone again is if they're dead, and they will never get what they want from life because they keep telling themselves they won't.

Your thoughts may seem to be real to you, they may feel real and you may have even convinced yourself that they are real. But the truth is you can't deny the facts.

And the real facts are that when you repeat these false statements over and over to yourself regardless of whether they are true or not be prepared to live with the consequences of low self-esteem, needless suffering and prolonged anxiety.

The good news is that you have the power to control what you think and say. You can choose to phrase things with a negative, limiting spin of untruths and have a woe-is-me attitude. Or, you can choose the kinds of words that deal with the facts about yourself and your life coming from a place of honesty and truth.

For instance saying things like, I will never get what I want from life. Is that true? Just because you may not be where you want to be yet or have what you want who says you can't get what you want from life? You! Do you have a crystal ball that shows you all the doom and gloom and how you will never have what you want?

Instead use the power of focusing your thoughts on what you want, make a plan, look forward instead of backwards and know, and I mean really know deep down inside that good things are in your life? Look inside your crystal ball and see what you want instead of what you don't want!

What you may not realize is that your thoughts create how you feel. Your thoughts are the number one reason you either heal or suffer, you love living or hate it, you move on or stay stuck, you feel good or bad or if you are happy or sad.

Is what I am saying or thinking based on facts or am I allowing my negative emotions to create a false sense of reality? You will be shocked at how often you are not telling yourself the truth and making up stories in your mind.

And the more you repeat these kinds of thoughts and words the better chance you will have in making them your reality by attracting into your life the very kinds of experiences you wish would never happen.

How To Start Your Day In A Positive Way

It's a new dawn, a new day, a clean slate so to speak.

You CAN start your day in a positive way!

Whatever happened yesterday is in the past. A brand new day that holds promise, new possibilities, and new insights on ways to do or think about things is unfolding before you.

A new day offers an opportunity to readjust your attitude and embrace a new beginning.

Yesterday is over but today starts anew and is waiting just for you.

Before going to bed, or when you wake up, take out a piece of paper and on the top of the page write the words, "Today I will..."

Allow your imagination, excitement, anticipation, creativity, vision, and love to soar.

Here are some of the ways I like to start my days:

Today I will...

Look in the mirror and say, "Good morning; I love you", and then appreciate something about myself.

No matter what, I will try and remain positive, calm, and centered. (victorious)

Do my best to be my best.

Not judge myself and others. If I do, then I ask myself what else I can think or say that would be constructive.

Adjust my attitude when need be and see things from a different perspective.

Smile often.

Laugh more.

Hug someone.

Sing, hum, whistle, or dance.

Stretch physically, emotionally, spiritually, professionally, and personally.

Really listen when someone is talking and be curious and interested in what he/she is saying.

Tell someone I appreciate he/she, the job he/she is doing, or say something kind or positive.

Learn something new about myself, another person, or anything at all.

Enjoy the simple pleasures in my day. A cup of tea, my meals, the sun, a song, etc.

Not take for granted who or what is in my life today.

Be kind to myself and others.

Take a step towards forgiveness if I'm holding onto anger, hurt, or resentment towards others or myself.

Slow down. Pause as often as possible, take a look around, check in with myself or others. How am I or are they doing?

Lend a helping hand where I can.

Enjoy something in nature.

Take some deep breaths and relax.

Drop my expectation of how things "should be", and go with the flow of how things are.

Love myself and others.

Face my fears the best I can.

Feel and be confident.

Open my heart.

Listen to the quiet voice inside me that knows what I need to do or not do.

Believe in myself and others.

Have hope that today holds the promise of great things and of being the best day of my life; even if it feels like the worst.

Imagine the possibilities in tough situations.

Enjoy as many moments during the day as I can.

At the end of the day, write down the things I am grateful for today.

You can start your day in a positive way by reminding yourself of what is important for you.

You may want to re-read your intentions a couple of times during the day, as it helps keep your focus on what's important.

Your day may not always be rosy. In fact, some days may have a few thorns, but that doesn't mean that what you have intended cant still be followed through the best you can.

Often when you do shift your thinking or way of doing things, things change. If nothing else, you are being proactive as opposed to being passive or pessimistic.

Today could be the best day of your life; you just never know. You certainly will be more open to receiving positive outcomes if you believe it's possible and are working towards that.

Enjoy the day the best you can because you don't know if there will be a tomorrow.

Do You Beat Yourself Up?

I think we have all been victims of our own self-abuse. I know that may sound harsh but in a way we become so used to our self-criticism that we don't look at it as an extreme; like abuse. But, when you think about it, when you think about some of the things people say to themselves, if they were to say the same things to another person you might consider their words rude, mean, disrespectful and abusive.

For instance let's take some of the things that I've heard people say to themselves, about themselves, and flip the script for sake of making this point. Instead of saying these kinds of self-deprecating things about yourself let's say the same words to someone you know and love. Be it your daughter, son, nephew, niece, friend or whomever.

Pretend you're saying the same things that you say to yourself, about yourself, to someone else.

Instead of saying, ' I', replace it with 'You.' For example: You're so fat. What's wrong with you? You're so stupid. No one will ever love you. You made so many mistakes. You will never meet anyone. You're too old and washed up. You're ugly. You're a loser. Your wrong. Your body is disgusting. No one likes you. You're going to be alone forever. You'll never become anything in life. Etc.

Now think for a second. If you heard someone saying this to their child or spouse or whomever you would feel a sense of outrage wouldn't you? You would want to go over and set this bully straight with your own choice words and let them see what it's like to be picked on.

You would want to protect and comfort the victim and let them know that what this person is saying and doing is wrong.

Well, that bully is you and the person being picked on by you, is you. Make sense? When you start down a path of verbally beating yourself up stop yourself and start to be more loving, more accepting and more forgiving. Stop being so hard on yourself.

So what if you have a few pounds to lose or you aren't where you want to be in life yet. So what if you've made mistakes, who hasn't? What good does it do to beat up on yourself about it?

Everyone has things in their life that they would like to change, improve upon or get rid of. But, that doesn't mean you have to crucify yourself because things aren't the way you'd like them to be.

Begin to accept yourself just the way you are, exactly where you are in life, with all that you have and don't have. There are things you can change and there are things you can't change.

Understand the difference. Change what you can. Then leave the rest behind.

But beating yourself over the head about something is just the same as beating a small child over the head because they didn't get all A's on their report card.

Instead, you let them know that you're proud of them, embrace that they did their best and you focus on what they did accomplish not on what they didn't do.

It's the same with you. Get rid of the self-loathing speech that tears you down and begin to simply accept where you are along your journey through life and choose words that are loving.
