What You Should Do In Case You're Kidnapped

Whilst the chances of something as serious as being abducted are extremely small, still, knowing how to act if you are kidnapped could one day save your life. The first thing you should do is to be cautious at all times in order to avoid ever being kidnapped, and to take precautions to be safe. Never go out alone at night. Installing a security system in your house can make a difference, too. Don't be oblivious to your surroundings and do your best to have company all the time.

That all being said, a person can end up being abducted from just about anywhere. This means that there is no place that is completely safe, not a hotel and even your own house. Your biggest opportunity of getting away from the abductor is right at the start, when you are nearest to other people. As you are trying to maintain your composure, do your best to cause a commotion and get the attention of as many passersby as possible.

If you can, get someone else's attention before the abductor has a chance to take you anywhere he plans to. This is actually your best chance. In case there is an imminent risk to your life, the best thing to do is to stay calm as possible and cooperate. However, if you were able to get other people's attention, even if you were not able to escape, at least, there's a likelihood that there are people who are alerted as to what happened to you. Otherwise, in case nobody saw you get abducted, it might last a few days until your friends or family notice that you are missing. The earlier that people begin finding you, the greater are your chances of being found. Leads go cold very quickly, and memories are extremely shaky. So, the police will have a better job in finding you the earliest that they get a head start.

There is a chance that you could end up being drugged just to keep you from struggling. If that takes place, it's almost a good thing. It's a wise decision not to struggle, as your abductor could end up beating you instead in order to get you to calm down. Do what he asks. It'll keep him from beating you in the mean time. Do what you could to stay alive whilst you can. Moreover, even if you are stuffed in a car or perhaps a trunk, do what you can to be aware of your surroundings. Notice what the location smells like and see if you know which way you are turning and if you can get a general sense of your location.

Whatever you do, don't try to upset your kidnapper or to be stubborn. Observe his routines, and resist any of his attempts to disorient you. If you know what his daily activities are, you can find opportunities to escape. Also, try and get to know your kidnapper. If he knows you, he will be less likely to want to injure you.
