Having a bad day? Fret not! There studies that have shown those bad days can still sometimes bring out the best in people. It's not all that bad - you just need to see the good behind every dark situation.
Here are some ways bad days can actually be good for us…
Being in a bad mood can help you think clearly. If you think you woke up at the wrong side of the bed this morning, then don't let your mood completely destroy your day. We all have bad days when we are crankier that we normally are, and when the most miniscule things irritate us. Studies have shown that the grumpier you feel, the lower the possibility you will be fooled by other people. Your seriousness or lack of complacency makes you want to analyse things better, rather than make even more irritating mistakes. You are less likely to make quick decisions and may tend to scrutinize an option more than you would when you're upbeat, happy and generally optimistic about everything. So when in a bad mood, it may be the best time to finally take on that difficult task you have been putting off at work
Not getting that promotion is good for your mental health. Imagine how boring and unchallenging life would be when all you ever wished or worked for you achieve without fail. Missing out on a promotion may be humiliating and hard to fathom, but once you realize that life is not as easy, it simply means you need to strive harder. This is why too-sheltered children are not well-equipped for the bigger challenges in life - it's because they never had an opportunity to learn how to be tougher. Trials and failures serve a good purpose in life - they help us strive harder, and challenge our normal capacities in order to be more successful.
Tough days can boost your immune system. Stress is not good for the body, and may in fact be the cause of several illnesses. But although stress is generally bad for our health, pressure as a result of stress can actually do us some good - it boosts your immune system. When your body detects pressure, it produces cortisol, which in small amounts, benefits your body. When your immune system gets a shot of cortisol, you are less prone to illnesses and colds. Plus, when you are busy with stressful stuff, you tend to forget the little aches and pains and just go through the problems with determination. Imagine "adrenaline rush" also.
So when you have bad days, don't curse, don't jump off the cliff just yet. Nobody ever said that life will be smooth sailing 100% of the time. Tomorrow is a new day, and every new day has something good in store for you. Fret not, smile!
