You're stuck in a Dead End Job
If you're in a job where you feel you have little or no career progression it may seem like you'll be stuck in the rut forever. The term "dead end job" is often used to describe positions which provide low pay and don't teach you many new skills which can be used to progress up the career ladder. This can be incredibly draining, as the thought of being stuck in the same job for the rest of your life can be daunting.
How to fix it: Sometimes there are positions within the company that you may never have realised existed. Before hastily quitting, speak to a superior about possible career progression as they may be able to recommend opportunities or vacancies within the company that you could apply for.
You're Jealous of a Friend's Job
This can be the destroyer of many a friendship as jealousy is one of the strongest emotions and can have dreadful consequences if it develops into an obsession. If you're becoming preoccupied with your friend's career success then it's time to shift focus to yourself and how you can be happy in your career again. Everyone's different so your friend's ideal job may be your nightmare.
How to fix it: Start looking at what's holding you back from feeling successful. Could it be that you need a new challenge in your career? Ask your boss for additional responsibilities or even start looking for a new job to vary things up in your life. If your job's become stagnant and boring your mind will start to wander and want what other people have got.
You don't like the People you Work With
Seeing as you have to spend so much of your life with colleagues, not getting on with one or more of them can pose to be rather problematic. If you feel threatened or bullied then this is a completely separate issue to which you need to make a formal complaint. Disciplinary action can be taken against someone who is bullying colleagues and no one should ever be made to feel uncomfortable at work.
If you simply don't get on with someone you could either talk it out with them or be "civil". Avoid getting into a war with them as this can make everyone feel awkward. If things are getting really bad you could always put in for a transfer to a new department of find a job which you feel you'll enjoy more.
