Believe It or Not

"The outer conditions of a person's life will always be found to reflect their inner beliefs." -James Allen

What is belief? According to Webster's dictionary it is confidence, faith and trust in something being true. What is faith? It's a firm belief in something for which there is no proof; complete trust.

What do you believe about yourself and your life? And, where do you place your faith? Just a few questions for you to think about. But when you dig down deep enough and find the answers you will begin to understand why your circumstances are what they are.

You know the old saying, "I'll believe it when I see it?" This kind of thinking is what most people live by. The truth is: you'll see it when you believe it! Many people have a tendency to believe in the worst possible outcome and they may not even be aware they're doing it.

Or, they fear that something is going to happen a certain way and lo and behold, what they believed was going to happen, actually happens. Do you ever wonder why that is? It's because what you think about, you bring about.

WHAT DO YOU SAY TO YOURSELF OVER AND OVER AGAIN?

Have you ever heard anyone say something like: I'll never meet anyone, he/she is going to leave me, my relationships never work out, I'll never be happy, I'll never get out of the rat race, nothing good ever happens to me, I'll live with this pain forever, I can't get ahead, I'll never lose weight, I'm too old to change careers? Etc.

What do you call this kind of thinking? Is that living your life with faith that your Higher Power can create miracles in your life? Or, is it living with faith that what can go wrong, will go wrong? Again, I ask you, "What do you believe in? Where do you place your faith?"

This negative, limiting belief program that you have running in the background of your mind is what drags your down and keeps you stuck. It leaves you no room for living with hope, having joy for each day, or peace of mind or just plain being happy. It basically sucks the joy out of everything.

This kind of thinking causes an underlying feeling of defeat and disappointment that wears you down. And, often times this kind of woe-is-me negative thinking becomes a habit. It becomes what you believe about yourself and your life and unless you don't want to be happy, maybe it's time to reevaluate these old, worn out beliefs you've been dragging around with you.

Every time you catch yourself heading down that limiting road to negativity, learn to change courses. Begin to steer your thoughts away from what you're afraid might happen, to unwavering faith in a better outcome.

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT?

Start to walk down a path that is lined with gratitude and each step will feel lighter. Look ahead with faith that everything will work out for the best, not the worst.

The truth is we all have choices in life and along with all of our choices come consequences. The consequence of allowing your mind to dwell on worse case scenarios is that you may end up living them out in reality.

Conversely, the consequence of keeping your mind focused on goodness and hope and love and faith is that you rid yourself of the garbage along your path. But best the part of keeping you mind focused on "right thinking" is: each step of your journey is lined with beauty and peace.

Which road will you choose to travel?
