If you love shopping, then you've come to the right place. Going out there, hitting the malls, and buying a bunch of stuff is one of the most exciting things you can do. Especially when it comes to clothes. Maybe it's because when you buy a new outfit, you can imagine all that extra attention you're going to get from others. Or maybe it's just getting new colorful things. Perhaps it's been programmed into our genes after millions of years of evolution. Who knows.
However, there's one problem. Clothes cost money. And unless you are a regular star on "Lifestyles of The Rich And Famous," there's going to be a point where you run out of money. That's where the dismal science, otherwise known as economics, comes into play. You've got unlimited wants, and limited resources. To put it another way, there's an endless supply of new outfits out there, but you've only got so much room on your credit cards.
How do you handle this maddening reminder of reality? You've got to do some deciding. You've got to make a list of what's important to you before you head out. I know, this may take out a lot of fun, and make it much less exciting, but unless you want to end up in debt prison, you've got to do it.
Most people do this backwards. They leave the house in the morning, and shop till they're broke. Then they come home, put their new clothes in the closet, never to wear them again. Sure, it feels great shopping, but if you never wear your new clothes, you may as well spend your money at the racetrack. At least there you've got a chance of getting your money back.
Instead, you've got to figure out what kinds of clothes you need before you leave the house. Shoes? Jackets? Socks? Dresses? Write them down on a piece of paper. Then do some research online. Find some of what you're looking for. Say you need a couple dresses. Find five or six online that look really good. Then figure out how much you can afford. If you can buy three dresses, then you're ready to go.
You'll find that this is just as much fun. Instead of running around willy nilly like a headless chicken in a rainstorm, you'll have a few targets in mind. This will increase your enjoyment significantly. Not only that, but you'll shop like the Terminator, and when you get home, they'll be a plenty of good feelings. Now get out there and do some shopping!
