5 Ways To Improve Your Health

Heath is wealth, so no matter how rich or successful you become, without good health, you cannot enjoy the fruits of your labour. Too many people forget this, and in turn sacrifice their wellbeing in the quest for personal advancement; Bad idea.

So, how do you improve your health?

Here are 5 simple ways to do it.

Eat regularly. Try to break your meals up in a way that doesn't leave you super hungry by the point of the next meal. Controlling your blood sugar and energy levels through regular meals and snacks keeps smart eating habits going strong. Eat less fat and control salt intake also - this will ensure that your blood pressure, sugar levels and heart remain healthy. Also, try to drink more water. The general recommendation is that we should drink around eight glasses of water a day. Taking in this amount of water will greatly enhance your digestion‚ nutrient absorption‚ skin hydration‚ and detoxification -- as well as many other aspects of your health.

Go to bed earlier. Sleep impacts so many things - including hunger and stress levels. Make sure you get enough rest. Lack of sleep has a profound impact on your mood, so make sure you get enough sleep. The normal recommendation is 8 hours of sleep a day - but as one gets older, he can make do with less.

Think positively. Having an optimistic outlook on life can actually help you to live longer. Researchers have found that optimistic people decreased their risk of early death by 50 per cent compared to those who were pessimistic. Thinking positively lessens your chances of worrying, and therefore reduces stress -- thereby lessening your chances of getting physical and mental illness.

Take some deep breaths. Stress is a killer. It can deter your best laid plans. It messes with your hormones. It's just not cool. Use whatever stress coping technique you have in your arsenal - such as stopping to take some deep breaths and count to ten. Deep breathe for at least 5 minutes, as often as you can. Research shows that deep breathing, even for minutes, can reduce stress hormone levels. That translates into less anxiety, better sleep, and less likelihood to pack on the pounds.

Be social. We humans are social creatures, and although some of us prefer to be alone, we still need human touch and interaction. Without it, we go crazy and fall into depression. Talk with someone who inspires you. Spend some time with someone you admire and that encourages you, even via phone or in an email. Call up old friends you've been meaning to call. It's easy to push up calling and connecting with old friends and loved ones. Do that now. Even though it can feel like something you'd rather not do, push past that and do it. You'll feel better afterwards.
