How Many Different Outfits Should You Have In Your Wardrobe?

Ah, the eternal question. Do you have enough clothes? Most people think they don't. Many people would love to buy all the clothes they wanted without every worrying about price or cost. Unfortunately, we live in a imperfect world where we don't have as much money as we wish we did. So we've got to budget, make decisions, and choose what to get at the expense of what we can't afford to get.

But when it comes to clothes, you need to be careful. Because the clothes we wear play a big role in how much money we've got. Going to a job interview dressed in trainers won't get you that high paying office gig. Going to a sales meeting in jeans and a beer stained t-shirt will get you fired in a hurry.

Not only with business and money, clothes can have a huge impact on your social life. The quality of your life is largely made up by the quality of your relationships. And like it or not, the kind of people you spend most of your time with are going to be impacted by the kinds of clothes you wear all the time.

Sure, after you've known them for a while, you can relax and wear your pajamas or whatever. But when you first meet them? Impressions are everything. That means you've got to have a few different kinds of outfits, or schemes of dress in your clothing arsenal.

Naturally, you'll need something to impress from a business standpoint. If you find yourself in a situation where you need a smart suit, and you don't have one, you'll be at a severe disadvantage. You'll also need a few changes.

Next, you'll need something to wear socially. Something that makes you look like you didn't just crawl out from the dumpster behind the supermarket. Something that says relaxed, confident, and slightly upper class. Remember, everywhere you go, people are largely making impressions about you from the clothes you are wearing.

You'll also need to have plenty of outfits that can be worn in a regular business setting where you aren't trying specifically to impress, like you would be in a job interview or a big sales meeting. These are professional clothes. While there can be a bit of cross over between the clothes you wear socially and the clothes you wear to work, they really should be in separate categories. That way, you won't be sending the wrong impression to anybody.
