Five Easy Steps To Fight Procrastination

Have you ever heard about procrastination? Well, you many not know it but you are already probably doing it. It happens when you have something important to do but instead of dealing with it, you end up doing other unimportant things like checking your email, updating your Facebook status, watching videos, etc. You put off important tasks because you don't feel like doing it until it's too late to get it done. And when it is needed, you panic and all you can do is wish that you have done it earlier.

People with chronic procrastination tendencies spend most of their lives looped in the cycle of unproductive attitude towards work. They never get things done on time because they avoid work as much as possible and face work only when they are unavoidable. You don't have to be a genius to realize that procrastination is a bad habit that will prevent you from achieving greater things in life. Here are some of the ways on how to increase productivity by eliminating procrastination.

1. Accept that you procrastinate. This is the first step towards bringing procrastination out of your system. You can never treat a disease if you don't know you have it. And like most problems, awareness is the key to stop procrastination. By being aware of your unproductive tendencies, you will be able to come up with appropriate solutions to address your problem.

2. Do the difficult tasks first. You can start the day by accomplishing more odious tasks and do the work you love doing afterwards. This way, desirable tasks become motivating factors to finish the more difficult tasks and then move on to your favorite ones.

3. Create a list. List all your tasks on a piece of paper together with the dates by which they need to be completed. This will help you manage your time and finish tasks on a timely manner. You also need to order tasks, from the most important to the least important, from the most burdensome to the easiest tasks.

4. Eliminate distractions. When doing odious work, most people find it hard to avoid distractions mainly because they really want to be distracted. So, what you should really do is turn off your Smartphone notifications, close your web browser or forward all calls to your voice mail. Settle those distractions once you've finished your tasks for the day.

5. Know the importance of each task and why it needs to be done on time. Then, remind yourself about it every time you feel like slacking. This way, you will become more motivated to do things because you make yourself aware of the worst things that could happen if you don't get your tasks done.
