If you've ever gone on a diet, you know how tough it can be. Not eating when you're hungry, or eating something that doesn't taste as good as you want isn't easy. It's downright impossible most of the time. What makes things worse is that after we give in to temptation, we feel awful. And guess what we do to make ourselves feel better? That's right, we eat more. And the cycle continues.
When you think about it, it's really not so much our fault. Our minds and bodies evolved during a time when food was scarce. In order to survive, the desire to eat had to be so great that it pretty much overwhelmed our other conscious desires. Even if we weren't hungry, the smell of food pretty much took over our brains and made us eat and eat and eat. We wouldn't have survived otherwise.
In modern society, when food is so plentiful, this doesn't help us much. With a large pepperoni pizza only minutes away, and delicious, cheap fast food on every corner, it's a wonder we aren't fatter than we already are. It's no help that food producers know this, and leverage this to the hilt when it comes to making their food.
Can we fight this with will power? No way. Our brains aren't strong enough. Think about it. When we use only will power to fight the urge to eat when we are hungry, we're fighting hundreds of thousands of years of evolution. It just won't work. Sure, you might be able to hold off those urges for a while, but eventually you'll break. And when you do, you'll eat everything in sight.
What's the answer? Self hypnosis. By using some simple strategies to reprogram your mind, you'll simply lose the desire to eat. Your desire to be skinny will naturally become bigger than your short term desire to eat whatever it is that's in your fridge. How do you do this? It's pretty simple, really. You just need to commit yourself to spending at least twenty minutes a day.
Don't worry, it's easy. Just get into a relaxed state of mind. Just like you feel like when you are about to fall asleep at night. Nice and easy. Count down from ten to one, very slowly. Slowly and methodically go through and relax all your body parts. Then just keep repeating positive statements that supports your weight loss efforts. Statements that, if they were true, would be proof that you are slim and in the best shape of your life.
