According to recent medical studies, there is an average of 40-50 elements that trigger addiction for the young generation. Yet such factors could be enumerated into two basic or main factors that push a teenager into addiction. The first is "social acknowledgement" this is where a person takes drugs in order to feel accepted by modern society. The other is using narcotics in order to evade the harsh reality of their every day lives. These are the 2 primary factors that drive young adults into taking drugs. Even if the factors vary, all that remains the same would be the consequences the user faces.
Students who have a substance abuse problem would instantly show signs and symptoms of their addiction possibly at home or at school. At home, the first thing you can observe from a student who has a substance abuse problem is they want to be left on their own, become very easily agitated, have anxiety attacks and loss in appetite. In school, students who's into narcotics would show signs like aggressive behavior, panic disorders, distancing from friends and distancing from physical activities.
There are several students who feel that they need to experience drugs and alcohol to be accepted by their friends or the modern society. This is a mixture of curiosity and ignorance where a teenager becomes curios about the outcomes of drugs while being stupid enough to really try them out just to be acknowledged by their friends. The very first time they feel the effects of drug addiction they are unable to control their high. This is why students eventually get caught the very first time they use drugs simply because they don't act like themselves while they are under the influence of it.
Over time students might slowly get addicted to drugs if they crave for the high they experienced the very first time they used it. After the second time they are under the influence, their particular tolerance rises a degree which makes them crave for more and more over time. They may think that they are in control of the problem but they are totally wrong. They are now full pledged drug users who have an addiction with narcotics and other addictive substances. Pondering all along that the drug addiction effects can easily be dealt with and they can stop whenever they want to, the bad news is they are wrong and somebody needs to help them understand regarding their addiction and the treatment they require.
