Treatment Programs For Drug Addiction Recovery

There are lots of drug rehabilitation programs that support an abuser in his fight against drug addiction. They give useful info on how to deal with relationships and to function well in the society.

Drug therapy programs are individually made to fit the needs of every patient. There are 3 tools in the therapy of addiction. They are the following: detoxification, inpatient treatment and out-patient treatment.

Detoxification

Detoxification treatment focuses on the goal of cleaning the system of the abuser from the drug. Drugs alter the normal mechanisms of the brain making it too difficult for a person to give up the abuse without help. The abuser needs support from a licensed healthcare provider to do this. All addicts should first undergo detoxification before he could proceed to another treatment procedure. Right after detoxification the patient will be more open to counseling and other treatments. He will be more motivated and focused on the treatment program.

Out-patient Therapy

Outpatient treatment will work best for abusers who are residing in an environment away from the temptations of taking the drugs and are medically stable while on treatment. He should also have good support systems at home to help him in his healing. This treatment plan has individual counselling, group therapy and sustainable recovery. This is open for teenagers as well as for grown ups. It also offers psychological healing to patients by dealing with the reason of the addiction. Lectures and therapies are given to help the patient deal with the life outside the rehab facility. A combination of approaches is given to help the abusers to live a drug-free life.

Inpatient Therapy

Those people who are struggling with prolonged and severe addiction should be confined in drug rehabilitation programs that offer 24-hour monitoring. Treatment often lasts for many weeks or months, depending on the patient's case. Detoxification is the first step of the program followed by group or individual counseling, therapies and support groups. Furthermore, detoxification is accompanied by withdrawal symptoms specially if patients used the drug for a long period. It is an advantage to remain in an inpatient facility while undergoing detoxification. The program will also deal with the childhood and family factors that caused the addiction. This will definitely assure the client of a lifelong recovery when stress factors are dealt with.

Lastly, the drug abusers are not alone in their battle against drug addiction. There are several treatment programs designed to help them in this battle.
