A Simple Step By Step Guide To Choosing Your Career

If you are like most people, then you would like a job you enjoy, where your skill are well respected, and that pays you a good amount of money. This is pretty much the dream for everybody. However, with the economy in the shape that it's in, and the trouble with which many companies are having in order to stay profitable, this isn't so easy. That's why it's become more important than ever to take a proactive stance when it comes to your career. Long gone are the days where you can take any job, learn a few things, and then expect lifelong employment. However, with a proper skill set, and some good planning, you can position yourself so you'll be employed for life at a salary you deserve.

The first thing you'll need to do is to assess your skills. Make a list of everything you are good at. People skills, technical skills, computer skills, list anything that you are good at. Even if you've never used these skills in a work related capacity, write them down on your list.

The next thing to do is to rank them in order of enjoyment. Obviously, you'd like a job where you actually enjoy what you are doing. So take all your skills, and cop them to another sheet, but put the most enjoyable skills at the top. These are the skills that you'll be trying to exploit in any kind of job or career.

Now with some basic skills, it's time to see what kind of jobs you can match them to. Don't worry about finding a job right now that you are qualified for just yet. All you're trying to do now is to find some kind of direction you want to go into. For example, if you are really good with people, and see a sales job you'd like, but don't have any sales skills, don't worry. Right now you are looking for jobs you'd like if you could improve on your skills in any way.

Hopefully, after you've done this process, you will have found a few jobs that sound really good. However, many of the good jobs require specific training. That's OK. There are plenty of student loan programs that will help you out. Don't worry about paying them back, because if you are training for a specific job, you'll be making some money before you know it.

When you follow this simple procedure, it's much easier to find a high paying career. Just take your time, find out what you like, and get the training you need in order to achieve it. Good luck.
