How Can One Improve Their Own Self Confidence?

Self-confidence is a quality that you can spot as soon as you meet someone. It shines out like a beacon and in both sexes it is extremely attractive, and yet pinning down exactly what the qualities are that shows someone has self-confidence is a trickier undertaking.

Here however are five ways that I believe someone can make a start on improving their self-confidence, and also the way that they interact with the world around them.

1/ Get A Fashion Makeover!

Whilst it is perfectly possible to be extremely confident and yet dress like a slob, the fact is that it is easier to feel confident when you are dressed like a million dollars and feel sure that everyone thinks you look good.

2/ Go on a Diet

If you are very overweight then it can be harder to feel a sense of self-confidence (though clearly not impossible as some very large celebrities are super confident). Nevertheless, if we are talking about ways that you can quickly help yourself to feel better about yourself then losing some weight is a natural way to do it.

3/ Eat Healthier Food

In some ways this ties into dieting, but not necessarily, because it is perfectly possible to go on a diet and lose weight, but be eating a horrible diet that robs you of energy and leaves you feeling awful.

The important thing is to eat vibrant fresh foods like fruit and vegetables, because there is a lot of truth in the conjecture that eating fresh food leaves you feeling more alive and full of energy.

4/ Do Some Exercise

Exercise is a natural producer of endorphins which automatically makes anyone feel better. The so called "gym high" is no myth, because after roughly 30 minutes of vigorous exercise the body's production of endorphins automatically spikes and you just flat out feel better, and feeling better all of the time is an automatic recipe for improved self-confidence.

The type of exercise that you do is far less important than the fact that you do some, and so if you don't want to work out on the Stairmaster at the gym, but would prefer to play tennis instead, then there is no need to feel guilty, you should do whatever works best for you and which you feel confident that you can regularly participate in.

5/ Read Some Empowering Books

One great book that you should read if you are embarking on a program of improving your self-confidence is "How To Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie, which is a classic text which is packed to the rafters with great tips about how to make people like you and how to become a person of influence both with your friends and in a business context.

The biggest secret to improving your self-confidence is to take a little action every single day that moves you in the direction of feeling better about yourself and taking care of both your body and mind.
