Unfreeze And Move - End Procrastination Now

Tired of procrastinating?

It's thought that 95% of all people procrastinate at some time, delaying tasks because they feel too difficult or trying. But using avoidance strategies like checking Facebook or ringing a friend increases the sense of stress and anxiety, and provides no real answer to the problem you're facing.

The fastest way to gain emotional and mental relief is to understand the reason why you're procrastinating -- and then take steps to resolve the issue.

Why Are You Procrastinating?

The best way to stop procrastinating is to understand why you are doing it. Everyone has different reasons, and it has nothing to do with being lazy, or unfocused. It might have something to do with your perception of the level of discomfort or difficulty associated with the task you are procrastinating over.

Anxiety and fear are most often related to our reaction to an imagined future -- to events which have not taken place. Perhaps this situation is bringing up some part of you which you can now look at and resolve. Are you afraid of failing? Are you afraid of success? Are you coming up against your lack of confidence in yourself?

These are normal, and common. End the denial and recognize what's really happening for you -- and then be willing to work on that and let it go. Look back for a moment and consider the times in the past when you believed something to be almost impossible, and you went ahead and accomplished it anyway. Many people find self hypnosis recordings particularly helpful in moving forward.

Active Procrastination

Usually we feel bad about procrastination, but according to research it may not always be a bad thing.

There are two sorts of procrastination: active and inactive.

Active procrastination is when you put off a task to study, gather resources and information, so when the deadline looms you are ready to use the pressure to produce good results.

Inactive procrastination is when you simply avoid a task by doing and thinking about something else, till finally the deadline forces you to sit down and do the work, even if you are completely unprepared.

According to research from Columbia University in New York, USA, active procrastinators experience no confidence problems or anxiety. They achieve better end results than inactive procrastinators, even when procrastinate for exactly the same amount of time.

So if you know you tend towards procrastination, perhaps it is an avoidance strategy just waiting to be transformed into a strategy for success.

Break down tasks It is so easy to procrastinate when a task feels complicated, or even titanic in size. Create a time-line on a piece of paper with one dot representing where you are now, and another dot representing where you would like to be. Next put a dot halfway between the first two dots. This one represents the middle, when you're halway to your goal.

What is that halfway point specifically? A word count? An amount of money saved?

Once you have decided what it is, create another dot between the first dot and the middle point. This is the first leg of the journey. Next, create a dot between the halfway dot and the end dot. What is the specific milestone lying between the middle and the end of your goal?

Congratulations! You have created a working timeline that can be broken down even further into smaller monthly, weekly or daily chunks as needed.

Get Rid of Distractions

Getting rid of distractions is an important step in stopping procrastination. With Twitter, Facebook and the other social media sites, I'm not sure how anyone gets anything done anymore. If you can't resist the pull of your favorite social media, try turning the Internet off, or if you need the Internet for work, get one of those software programs that allows you to block certain websites of choice. Some Internet browsers provide this function as well.

Answer only those phone calls that are important, and confine yourself to answering emails at a specific time of day. E-mail is a huge time-drain, so to reduce the risk of procrastination, elect a specific appointment with yourself for looking at the e-mails and turn off the instant notifications. Make it fun!

Experiencing things as fun -- finding the fun in them -- doesn't necessarily just come at you. 'Fun' doesn't fall from the sky. It is a quality that we bring to our experiences and our interactions with the world around us.

If you have a project, goal or deadline that you keep delaying and putting off, perhaps it's feeling too heavy and serious? Shake things up. Sit down and wear a Hawaiian t-shirt and a beach hat. Or a football or ice hockey shirt. Or a Star Wars outfit. Can you work outside in the daylight? Treat yourself to your favorite snack food, like fresh strawberries, or crackers with hummus. (Just be sure not to overdo it.)

What about music? Music can support study and aid concentration -- but it has to be music you enjoy. Some people work really well to Mozart, while others get into the zone with Metallica. The trick is to not leave all the rewards for once you have completed the task or goal. Award yourself smaller treats as you complete tasks, and make sure you have something waiting for when you have finally completed it. What can you do to make the process itself more enjoyable?

You do not really need to be stuck. Use these strategies and you'll find yourself moving forward in exactly the right direction.

Recovery Programs Provide Options for Those Suffering with Addiction

The majority of recovery programs are designed, specifically, to suit a particular addiction problem, although many of the symptoms and roads to recovery are actually the same.

Choosing the right type of recovery program is vital for success, but knowing which the "right type" is might sometimes be a little easier said than done. The secret is that there is no secret, the best and most successful addiction recovery programs, whether they are for drug addiction, alcohol addiction, sex addiction, gambling addiction, or for some other type of addictive behavior, must include many different aspects of treatment in order to be successful over the long term.

A drug addict is not "cured" when the effects of the drug have been removed from his body. An alcoholic is not "cured" when they haven't had an alcoholic drink for a week, a month, or a year. But, there is hope to live a successful and healthy life in abstinence from their addiction - living in healthy recovery.

Understanding the reasons for the addiction in the first place is a very important part of the most successful recovery programs. It is also important to understand that any type of addiction does not only affect the patient suffering from addiction, but also their whole family, friends, colleagues, and support network. Many of these people should be involved in recovery programs, both for the success of the program for the patient and in helping the long suffering family and loved ones to understand the problems, their triggers, recognize symptoms, and deal not only with the recovering patient, but also with their own emotions. Living with someone suffering from addiction may be a nightmare, but living with someone in active recovery can be fairly traumatic, as well.

Recovery Program Options

Alcohol and drug addiction recovery programs will start at the root of the physical problems and aim to rid the body of the effects of the drug and / or alcohol, often using medication to help with the withdrawal symptoms in the early stages. Once all traces of these substances have been removed it is time to start with the next, very important stages of any successful recovery program.

It is important to remember that there is no "magic bullet" when it comes to recovery from addiction; instead, a successful program must be customized to suit the unique, individual problems of each person and their situation.

· Residential treatment programs. These programs may be the answer and can treat many types of addiction very successfully. While the patient is in a residential treatment program they will undergo an intense regime which will, in itself, include many types of therapy, counseling, and other treatment options.
· Outpatient treatment programs. This may be the best, or the only option for some patients. This type of program may be just as intense but does not remove the addict entirely from their normal daily lives. Some outpatient treatment recovery programs may include an intense, daily program of treatment with the patient leaving every evening. Other types of outpatient recovery programs may involve the patient attending weekly, bi-weekly, or shorter daily sessions according to their needs.
· Relapse prevention programs. These are a very important part of the treatment which must not be overlooked. In order for any patient to live a successful, healthy life in recovery it is important they understand the reasons for their addictions in the first place, recognize, and avoid triggers which may cause them to relapse and have a great support network in place to help them through the most difficult times. This support network must also be aware of the triggers which must be avoided and know how to recognize the signs that the patient may be slipping back into their old, addictive, harmful ways.

Many of the treatments involved in addiction recovery programs are the same for alcohol, drug and other types of addiction. It is often found that the root problems of the addiction are surprisingly similar - being unable to deal with the stresses and trials of life without the use of alcohol or drugs to help is often one of the basic problems needing to be tackled.

Family Support for Recovering Addicts

It cannot be stressed enough how important it is for any patient to have a good, strong support network, most generally from their families. It is, however, important to remember that every member of the family unit will have been adversely affected by the addiction. With loved ones often feeling they have been driven away during the onset of the addiction, communication is very often broken down by the time the addict enrolls on any type of recovery programs.

Establishing and maintaining strong family relationships can be the lynchpin to the success of the recovery for the patient, so it is important that the treatment includes the family members every step of the way. Some family members may need to be involved in individual therapy and counseling sessions in order for them to really understand the problems faced by the addict and how to help them on their own path to recovery, as well as to successfully navigate their own path through this very difficult time.

Some of the very important ways in which family members can help with this are:

· Being there to talk with the patient, whenever they feel like they need a friendly ear. Just having the opportunity to open up and talk freely about these things really can help - a problem shared really is a problem halved in many cases.
· Helping them to build a new life away from their old, harmful buddies and haunts. This can be surprisingly difficult, but is essential in order for any recovering addict to live a healthy, successful life. The best recovery programs will teach both the patient and the family about strategies to build a new life and help to beat cravings. Alcoholics must avoid bars and clubs - family members must respect this and ensure that alcohol is not freely available in the home, not even for cooking purposes. This is just an example of how family members can help with the overall recovery process.

Recovery programs that are tailored to each specific patient offer the best hope of success. Addiction is an overwhelming disease, if you or someone you love is suffering, start researching now to find recovery programs that feel like a comfortable fit.

Does Age Difference Really Matter?

Most people, in this day and age, do not put much emphasis on age when it comes to a relationship. There is still a stigma when the difference in age is pronounced. And couples with a big age difference tends to attract a bit of attention. Most of us have witnessed this and have pondered what the attraction is. This happens more often than we even know. I am married to an older woman, so I tend to notice this more than other men. The age difference between my wife and I is only five years and, as a friend of mine who I have known for 25 years, always refers to me as her boy toy or her eye candy. First of all, my friend was being very generous to even say that. Let's face it, what guy in his right mind does not want to be thought of as eye candy or a boy toy. And trust me on this, I am not eye candy or a boy toy (My wife just informed me that she would beg to differ. Looks like I will have to write more articles around her, ego boost!). And just so you know my wife and I have
a very good relationship, and we do tend to tease and joke around quite a bit. We spend an awful lot of time together ("awful" is meant as a good thing in this sentence).

Getting back to why I think of this occasionally. My wife will bring up our age difference jokingly and sometimes in a more serious tone. I'm still not sure why she even brings it up. When I first met her 22 years ago I did not look more youthful than her, but she was more mature than I was. It had been three years since I graduated from college and she already had a established career path. She worked in graduate studies and her co-workers were much older than her. She was mature for her age and dressed according to her line of work. Seeing her in casual clothes, you could not tell her age. But once she spoke, you could tell she was more mature. As the years rolled by, and my life experiences broadened, I noticed that I got closer to her in age. As it now stands, after 22 years, I look 2 to 3 years older than her and maybe even older than that. When I look in the mirror I don't see that young guy anymore, I see a distinguished, older guy (I had to put that in) and periodical
ly I ask myself who that old guy is looking back at me. I tell you, looking young and feeling young are two different things and positively two different stories.

Our society judges men and women differently when it comes to younger partners. When you see a much younger woman with an older guy, the first thing that comes to mind is "He must have money." How else could he have scored such a great catch? When it's an older woman with a younger guy, it's not about the money, it's about eye candy or a boy toy. Younger men have more staying power, something older men certainly are lacking at this point in their life. But men, do not despair. We may not have the money the younger women are looking for, but with todays science, we can most definitely keep our spouse fulfilled at home. You know, give it a little bit more juice to get it going, but this time we can actually take something to give us more juice. We can actually compete with the younger generation. Not only are we more mature, we are more accomplished, we are somewhat already trained and we have more money. I love science and technology! Unless of course you have health issues, i
n which case, you better hope that there is alot of love in that relationship to keep it strong.

In the shows and sitcoms that I watch, I notice that the women are better looking than most of the men. A majority of men want their partner to be more attractive, it's bragging rights. As an example, I caught up with an old acquaintance from my past when my wife and I first got married. And we actually started to get together and hang out again. On more than one occasion, he invited me over to his home for drinks and to meet his wife. He actually had the opportunity to meet my wife first and, sad to say, I never had the opportunity to meet his wife or hang out with him again. He never returned any of my calls and I never saw him again, nothing. At first I could not figure out what happened. In our younger days, this friend of mine always had to have the better looking girls. I'm sure his wife was a beautiful woman when he married her, that's the kind of guy he is. But the years can be harsh to a woman and she may not look as good as she did in the past. All I could think of
was he could not face the fact that my wife did not look her age and she could still turn heads.

Although society is more liberal with all walks of life, people still scorn, and chuckle, when their is a large age gap. Many other lifestyles are now widely accepted, but physical difference are still ridiculed. Some women marry older men for their money and to possibly outlive their husbands. I'm not a statistician, but women outlive men by approximately 5 years. But as long as both parties are of sound mind they should be able to make any decision they want. After all, who am I to tell someone how they should live their life? I live near the ocean, and I hear things like "That person should not be wearing a bikini" or "That person should not be wearing that." All I can say is, don't look at them. Next thing you know, people will tell you that if you are older or weigh a certain amount, you should not wear lingerie. Well, I like lingerie and if it feels good and fits, then I say wear it, regardless of your age or weight. As a matter of fact I need to talk my wife about buyi
ng that strapless babydoll lingerie that she has been eyeing and just maybe we can have some fun, playing dress up of course. See ya next time!

A Secret to Self-Help

Copyright (c) 2013 Joe Vitale

What's a key to self-help, self-improvement or self-development?

Meet Ace Pepper.

Ace is the most upbeat, revved up and amped up guy I know. He absolutely loves making amplifiers for musicians.

I've seen people in love with their work before - from plumbers to postal workers to electrical repair people -- but Ace Pepper takes the passion award.

The man is plugged in. He lives to make amps and does for famous musicians. I met him at a guitar show I attended with Pat O'Bryan. I liked Ace's energy and was curious to what made him so contagiously happy.

I didn't see Ace for almost a year, though. When one of my amps started to whistle when it was supposed to hum, I thought of Ace. Pat and I went to see him, my old amp in tow.

Ace gave me an hour lesson in how amps are built.

It was exciting.

It was in-depth.

It was intense.

I didn't understand any of it.

But the guy's boyish enthusiasm for his work was riveting.

I ended up hiring Ace to make me the amp of all amps.

I told Ace I wanted something so astonishing that Bruce Springsteen would hear the legend of it and contact me, wanting to buy it.

Now here's where this gets interesting.

I don't know how to use a professional amp. Oh, I know how to plug a guitar cable into it and turn it on. But Ace's amps have a dozen dials, multiple plug-in holes, and wires coming out of the back of it. He makes amps that would challenge Tesla. Having him build me a professional custom-made amp was asking him to build me a car I couldn't drive.

Yet.

And that's a secret to self- improvement.

I told Ace I wanted him to build me an amp that I would "grow into."

What I meant is this: I'll learn how to use the amp once I have it. I'll experiment, ask questions, make mistakes and grow. I'll stretch myself into a comfortable fit.

This is true of virtually anything you want to learn.

Set an intention and then start working/playing/learning to grow into it.

Same with singing.

I don't sing. Never used to, anyway. But I decided to do something huge and daring - not knowing exactly how I would accomplish it - and announced one day I would put on a one-man theatrical show called "Mr. Fire's Wonder Show: An Evening of Magic, Music and Miracles."

Talk about establishing a goal I'd need to grow into!

Singing?

Magic?

Miracles?

Well, the Law of Attraction kicked in and I started to attract the people and coaches I need to make that goal come true.

I stumbled into a vocal coach by the name of Guy Monroe. The guy is a-maz-ing. He's also amped up about his work.

He took me under his wing, coached me with his vocal and verbal methods, and terrific upbeat energy, and I'm now singing Neil Young, Neil Diamond, Harry Chapin and more.

Recently I startled myself by singing Glen Hansard's wonderful song, Falling Slowly, from the movie Once. I didn't think I had a shot at getting close to the song, as it has such vocal extremes in it, from soft to shrill.

But Guy coached me, encouraged me, and I went for it.

I not only sang it, but I sang it pretty darn good.

Of course, I'm no Glen Hansard, but I'm an excellent 'me'!

I'm proud of myself for daring something worthy and learning how to sing, accelerating my guitar playing, and getting an amp I have no idea how to use -- yet.

Again, if you want to know a secret to self-help and self-improvement, re-read this post.

And then set a big, bold, daring goal for yourself, based on your passion.

It will help you "amp it up".

Expect Miracles.

PS - You'll notice that a key to growing fast and achieving your dreams with the Law of Attraction and more, is to have a coach. Listen to my interview with the Miracles Coach of 2009 by clicking right here. It's another secret to self-improvement and self-help. Go for it!

Diet Menus And Plans - Revisiting The Blood Type AB Diet

There is absolutely no danger in just reading about diets. But please, never undertake any diet without discussing its pros and cons with a qualified health care professional. You can really harm yourself if you don't take the proper precautions. Do not expect to lose pound after pound quickly and effortlessly. Keeping these precautions in mind you are now ready to consider the Blood Type AB Diet.

The Blood Type AB Diet is one of a group of diets that depend on the individual's blood type. These 4 diets are all said to promote weight loss, eliminate toxins and fat from the organism, fight against some illnesses, and slow the aging process. Blood type AB is the rarest blood type, englobing only about 5% of the total population. Here are some of the diet principles.

Some meat is allowed, but be careful about the types and quantities that you eat. Most foods are allowed. Start your day with a glass of hot water that may contain lemon juice. This diet comes with a long list of foods to eat and foods to avoid. Even among the favored food groups such as meat and vegetables there are plenty of items to avoid. For example, stay away from pork, duck, beef, goose, chicken, and veal. Good choices include lamb, turkey, rabbit, and mutton. There is also a list of suggested supplements. Clearly you won't be able to follow this diet without a book. Suggested activities include yoga and meditation.

Advantages of the Blood Type AB Diet include improving the state of your cells and immune system. It may help you in the fight against aging, cardio-vascular illnesses, diabetes, and some cancers. Red wine is permitted. Its disadvantages include the lack of fiber, vitamin B, and magnesium. You may require food supplements.

Here is a sample menu: For breakfast eat a poached egg with a slice of wheat-germ bread. Drink a glass of grapefruit juice and a cup of coffee or green tea. For lunch enjoy 115 grams (that's about 4 ounces) of turkey breast, a Caesar salad and a slice of rye bread. The mid-afternoon snack is a bowl of sweetened yogurt and a glass of grapefruit juice. Supper means a tofu and mushroom omelet, mixed vegetables sauteed in a wok. Dessert is a measly apple.

A quick look at the Amazon web site revealed several books covering the Blood Type AB Diet. Both paper and electronic versions are available.

Diet Plans And Menus - Reviewing The Cabbage Soup Diet

The Cabbage Soup Diet, also known as the Soup Diet, was originally designed to help overweight people awaiting weight-loss surgery. During a seven day period dieters rely on a homemade vegetable soup to lose weight, both by melting the fat away and by eliminating excess water from the body. They also take some proteins, fruits and vegetables, some snacks, and food supplements. After the initial phase, dieters undergo a seven-day stabilization phase. Here are some of the diet principles.

Eat as much of the fat burning soup as you want. Have some of this soup for breakfast, lunch, supper, and even the mid-morning snack. The recipe follows. For three liters (about three quarts of water) cook for approximately an hour the following cut-up vegetables: Three large onions, 1 or 2 cans of peeled tomatoes, a green cabbage, 2 eggplants, 2 bell peppers, 3 asparagus, 1 stalk of parsley, 3 bay leaves, 4 cloves of garlic, salt, pepper, curry, as well as other spices to taste.

On a daily basis eat proteins such as 150 grams (about 5 ounces) of lean fish, 4 egg whites, 150 grams of skinless, lean white meat (but not pork), or 200 grams of tofu. Eat two snacks, a bowl of soup in the morning and a fruit or a no-fat yogurt in the afternoon. During the stabilization phase the morning snack is a no-fat yogurt. Take dietary supplements. Drink a lot of water and green tea. During the stabilization phase you may once again consume bread and olive oil. But pasta is still not allowed.

An advantage of the Cabbage Soup diet is you won't have to cook much. But you may get sick and tired of that *** soup. And the meals lack variety. Very frankly, the Cabbage Soup Diet is not recommended. So many alternative diets are available.

Here is a sample menu: For Breakfast have two prunes, a sugarless no-fat yogurt, a bowl of soup, and a cup of green tea. Lunch means a bowl of soup, 150 grams (that's about five ounces) of sole, a plate of cauliflower, a bowl of strawberries, and a cup of green tea. For supper enjoy (if that's the word) a bowl of soup, a slice of low-fat ham, an artichoke, and a peach.

A quick tour of the Amazon web site revealed quite some range of Cabbage Soup Diet books. Some of these books are available for ereaders.

Add Sizzle To Your Love Life

If you have been been with someone for 20+ years like me, your love life is zilch. And it's not because you don't love your husband, it's just life changed. Between your business schedule and children, you and your partner might have misplaced that sizzle you had when you first came across each other. You recall that initial kiss and the first time you touched each other. The fact that you could not keep your hands off each other and you always wanted to be together. Yep..those were the days. But those days do not have to be behind you. Let's face it, you won't have that same feeling you had when you first meet and your relationship maybe mundane, but you can reclaim some of that spark. And for some of us, the history you have together may make it so much sweeter. But that lost spark happens to the best of us, whether we met a few months ago or longer. Things happen; you get lured into a regular pattern and then the spark vanishes. Let's examine the particular ways we can add
some zing to that spark that vanished.

There are many ways to do this without having to sell an arm and a leg. You and your partner can go on a date without the kids. You can also spend some quality time as a couple walking at night, at the park or doing something both of you love that you have not done in a long time. Ultimately, unless disaster strikes, we end up back home and this is where you can actually make things spark. Remember date night and spending time together is setting the mood for better things to come.

Men are visual beings, always have been and invariably will be. They imagine the same way women do but with a difference. Most women fantasize about love and being intimate with your partner is the passionate condition of it. Being intimate, most men see this as a process and that movement is much better with someone they love. Most men love their wives and would not dream of cheating on them, but they don't have the identical romantic need that women do. Reminds me of an old saying, men are dogs.

Now, let's focus on adding a little oomph! to our monotonous love life. Again, you need to keep in mind that men are visional beings, so what better way to add spark to your love life with sexy costume lingerie? Sexy costume lingerie is the ideal pick me upper and it's low cost to boot. I know, I know, I've said it myself. I'm too old and don't have the body for this. There must be some other way. The spark that you are trying to recapture is the spark you see in his eyes when you wear something gorgeous and sexy. It's that excited look he gets when he captures a glimpse of you in that sensuous something. I'm not talking about your regular run of the mill lingerie; I am speaking of sexy costume lingerie.

Set the ambience ladies, dress as a sexy police officer, a sexy nurse or better yet a French maid! The best thing about sexy costume lingerie is that it's not that revealing and can hide problem areas. And I have always made a point of telling you ladies to make sure you complete the look by fixing your hair, wearing make-up and a pair of pumps. If this is too embarrassing for some of you, lower the lights and light some candles. Having a dim room does wonders for our inhibitions. Most men would desire to see their partners in great sexy costume lingerie. Not only is it fun for him, but it can be enjoyable for you as well. You may like it if you try.

There are lingerie stores that sell sexy costume lingerie, but if you are like me, the thought of walking into these stores is slightly embarrassing to say the least. Some of you may not have a issue with that, in which case, more power to you. The best thing about buying from a retail establishment is you can try it on, I think. Online stores offer a wider range to choose from, but it has its draw back. The size may run from one extreme to the other, too small or too large. The way it is made and the material may be another issue. When purchasing online, make sure that you get free shipping and the return policy is generous. When planning a special night, keep in mind the number of days it takes to receive items in and the possibility that you may have to return it.

As always ladies, have fun.

Diet Menus And Plans - Revisiting The Blood Type A Diet

You can really harm yourself if you don't take proper precautions. Don't expect to lose pound after pound quickly and effortlessly. If your keep these precautions in mind you are now ready to consider the Blood Type A Diet.

The A Blood Type is said to come from Asia and the Middle East. This diet is vegetarian (A as in agriculture), low in fats and rich in vegetables and grains. To diminish your risk of developing heart disease, reduce to a minimum your consumption of meat, especially red meat. Eat fish three or four days a week or choose low-fat meats or fowl. Stay away from whole milk. Put an accent on vegetable proteins such as legumes. Whole grains are also good for you. Eat three fruits a day. Start the day off with a glass of hot water that may contain lemon juice. This diet comes with a large number of foods to eat and foods to avoid. Even among the favored food groups such as fish and vegetables there are plenty of items to avoid. For example, stay away from whitefish, herring, anchovies, catfish, and several other fish and seafood. Good choices include salmon, trout, snails, cod, sardines, perch, and mackerel. Red wine (in moderation) is recommended. Because people with Blood Type A a
re subject to a shortage of the different B Vitamins, they should be taking them, as well as Vitamins C and a little Vitamin E. There is also a list of additional suggested supplements. Clearly you won't be able to follow this diet without a book. Recommended activities include yoga and meditation.

Advantages of the Blood Type A Diet include improving the state of your cells and immune system. Its foods are varied and healthy. Disadvantages include the need for food supplements, in part due to low protein and iron intake.

Here is a sample menu For breakfast have a poached egg, a skim-milk yogurt, a bowl of blueberries. Wash it all down with a glass of grapefruit juice and a cup of tea or coffee. For lunch enjoy a Greek salad with a slice of wheat-germ bread. Your mid-afternoon snack is a glass of pineapple juice. Suppertime means sliced raw vegetables, turkey meat balls with green beans and a soy yoghurt for dessert.

A quick tour of the Amazon web site revealed quite a wide range of Blood Type A Diet books and recipe books for this diet. Many are available for the Kindle ereader.

How to Attract Great Ideas

Copyright (c) 2013 Joe Vitale

Years ago I asked Rhonda Byrne -- the woman behind the Law of Attraction hit movie The Secret -- an important question.

We were having dinner in Maui when I asked, "How did you come up with the idea for the movie?"

She thought for a long time before answering, "I called it forth."

"I called it forth" could mean a lot of things. But the other day I came across a quote from film maker David Lynch that made it all come together:

"Ideas are floating like fish. Desire for an idea is like a bait on a hook."

It made sense to me because this is how I'm creating music. Songs are floating around in the ethereal world. My desire for a song attracts one to me. The more precise I am in my request for a particular kind of song, the more accurate the match will be.

This doesn't mean I'm in charge of the songs. I'm a receiver for them. Music is still the boss. Songs are still in charge. I get to tinker with the idea after it arrives, but the idea itself comes by grace.

But I attract it by desiring it.

For example, one year or so ago, when I had my training wheels on as a songwriter and was experimenting with writing songs for the first time, I remember thinking, "I want to write a song about being kind to others."

That might sound simplistic to you. But even way back in the mid 1990s, in my first book on Internet marketing, called CyberWriting, I suggested we learn to write in kindness as a way to keep peace online. This "kindness theme" has been with me for decades, as a kind of prime directive in my life and work, so it shouldn't surprise you that I wanted to express it in a song.

But how?

I remember sitting on my deck outside my office, looking at the trees, and desiring a song about this message. As I meditated, one started to come to me. I jotted down what I was receiving. I played with it. I picked up a guitar and added some chords to it. The end result is the powerful stand-out song called "Everybody's Goin' Thru Somethin'" on my first singer-songwriter album, Strut!

In short, I attracted the song by my desire for the song.

I do the same thing for this blog. I often have no idea at all what to write about, but my desire for a fresh blog post "calls forth" the idea I need.

News Flash: Strut! is now available for you to order. You can hear excerpts from my healing music albums at Strut! and Blue Healer.

For example, I didn't know I was going to write this very post on how to attract great ideas. All I had was a desire for a post, which is what started the process to "call forth" an idea.

I then stumbled across the David Lynch quote while reading a magazine. Once I saw it, something clicked in me. I then recalled my dinner with Rhonda, and the post began to come together. I then sat down and wrote this for you.

But it all began with my desire for an idea.

Rhonda called forth her idea for a film about the Law of Attraction. She had a desire to share her insight, and that desire "called forth" a means. The result was a movie of historic importance.

You can do this, too.

What do you want to create?

A movie? A song? A business? A solution?

It doesn't matter.

The first step is to declare your intention. Complete the sentence, "I intend to…." with whatever it is you want to attract.

"I intend to…create a website that brings in more sales."

"I intend to…write a song about the theme of divine love."

"I intend to…attract unexpected income by Friday."

"I intend to…attract a loving person to date."

My suggestions are loose as I'm making them up, but yours can be specific.

After that, allow ideas to come to you. Make space for them. Go for a walk. Relax in the hot tub. Sit in quiet meditation. Read a novel. Have a cup of tea.

Declaring your intention is the request that "calls forth" an idea to fulfill it. Making time to receive ideas is how you open yourself to hear the answer to your intention. Of course, after that, you need to take action on the idea to bring it into reality.

This process works for me.

It clearly works for Rhonda Byrne.

It will work for you, as well.

You just have to do it.

What would you like to "call forth" next?

Leadership: Common Mistakes New Managers Should Avoid

Many new managers handle supervisory positions too quickly wihout actual management training. So as expected, they tend to make a lot of mistakes. The following are some of the most common. Hopefully, the simple knowledge of these will help new team leaders do things differently.

1. Trying to be everybody's best friend

While building good one-on-one relationship with the members of your team is vital to establish trust, your top priority must be honing your team as a whole. Also, you should make it very clear that you're not their friend but their supervisor. When the lines are blurry, it will results to c onfusion and significant dip in the level of productivity.

2. Assuming your position is like a magic wand

Things will not get done magically because you're the manager and because you said so. Rather than simply barking orders, you should motivate your staff to work for and with you. Authority doesn't automatically generates respect. It is earned.

3. Making promises you cannot keep

In your zeal and willingness to provide solutions to existing concerns and problems in your team, it is very tempting to guarantee immediate and some times unfeasible solutions you cannot deliver. Keep in mind that it's way better to keep any promised action more modest rather than risk frustrating and disappointing your team by not able to keep your word.

4. Trying to change everything

Many new managers make the big mistake of trying overhauling the entire organisation in their first couple of months. Introduce and implement your new ideas to your team one at a time. You should start by soliciting support and building healthy professional relationship, and trust.

5. Presenting yourself as infallible

Getting promoted doesn't make you invincible or immortal. New managers who pretend to know everything or hide their weaknesses slow or even stop their own professional growth and development, and risk the productivity in the workplace.

6. Getting mired in the details

One critical role of a manager is to understand and concentrate on the big picture. Trying to micromanage every task will inevitably make you a hindrance to progress, to your team's progress. Delegate thoughtfully and effectively, and trust the members of your team to take care of pretty simple and small tasks.

7. Avoiding confrontation

Most new managers are not comfortable giving criticisms to people, even if they are constructive comments. But as a manager, you should not tolerate poor performance and insubordination. Bear in mind that keeping yourself silent or giving only flowery feedback because you do not want to create friction will only make the existing problem worse. Make that difficult conversation or comment now.

8. Failing to seek support and guidance.

Being on the top does not mean you won't be needing a good dose of inspiration, since one of your primary roles is a source of motivation to your team. Mentors need mentors too, especially when they are filling a new spot with different expectations. Never try to do it by yourself. Seek the opinions and expertise of well experienced managers and leaders. If you do so, you'll find that your transition will be less stressful.

Scientific Evidence for The Secret's Law of Attraction

Copyright (c) 2013 Joe Vitale

People have been asking for scientific evidence for the Law of Attraction ever since the movie The Secret hit the Internet four years ago last month.

I'm excited to report it's here in the form of a readable book.

I was in Utah last week visiting my Miracles Coaching team when I decided to walk off dinner by going to a bookstore. There I found the brand new book, The Science Behind the Secret: Decoding the Law of Attraction, by Travis S. Taylor, Ph.D.

That book kept me up all night. It's riveting. Taylor is a physics, aerospace and electrical engineer. He worked for the Department of Defense and NASA. He also writes sci-fi books. After he saw the movie The Secret, he began exploring the history and evidence for the Law of Attraction.

According to Taylor, the Law of Attraction is not new. He can trace it all the way back to Jainism in ancient India, about four thousand years ago. He follows its development through Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) on to around the mid-1800s, when people such as Helena Blavatsky, James Allen, and William Walker Atkinson specifically used the term "Law of Attraction" in their books. Taylor continues his historic overview right through the 1980s, with books by Jerry and Esther Hicks.

Also according to Taylor, the Law of Attraction is not a law. He declares that the "law" is more an adage; a philosophical or psychological maxim. He doesn't dismiss it; he simply says it's not a law by strict scientific proof. There's no empirical evidence for it.

But Dr. Taylor doesn't stop there.

Turns out he's a fan of The Secret. He calls the teachers in it (apparently even me) "Yoda's." He really likes Louise Hay (who isn't in the movie). He says you can influence reality by how you think. His entire book is a respected scientist's view of how the Law of Attraction (law, maxim, or adage) actually works.

He goes on to explain new theories of the brain, and of reality, and states you can influence reality by holding a thought with emotion and imagery. In essence what you are doing is sending a "qwiff" into the energy field we're all in. That qwiff (a quantum wave function) goes out and gets "attracted" to (or seeks and finds) other similar qwiffs. The result is often a new reality.

Stop and think about this…

Stating there are new theories of the brain, as well as of human experience, reveals that "reality" must be a construct that matches whatever we say.

In other words, if you believe that the brain is like a computer (called a Turing Machine), you look at it as you do your Mac or PC. It's a mechanical device that works in a linear way.

But if you trash that model of reality and say the brain is more like what physicist Roger Penrose and anesthesiologist Stuart Hameroff say, that human consciousness is a Orchestrated Objective Reduction (a type of quantum computer), then you now have a new, empowering theory: that the human mind impacts reality.

Again, please note that these scientists are all trying to figure out how the world works. Also note that they are creating theories and then testing them. Further note that as long as they believe in their theories, they can find proof for them.

Doesn't that in itself prove what you think is what you create?

According to Dr. Taylor, who prefers the quantum brain theory of everything, you can create a new reality for yourself by imagining it's already fulfilled. This creates an energy field that gets launched into the Universe, on a mission to find whatever it needs to become your new reality.

This fits with the concept that photons and other particles don't organize until they are observed. It appears that when you state an intention, you help organize them. This is what I called "Nevillizing" (named after author Neville Goddard) in my book, The Attractor Factor. This is what gets everyone excited, including me.

Want a new car?

Imagine you already have it.

Want more money now?

Imagine you already have it.

What a new job?

Imagine you are already working it.

Want better health?

Imagine it's already here.

Want a new bike?

Dr. Taylor writes -

"The right way to use your quantum brain is to set up the thought pattern of the reality that you actually have that new bicycle. You must envision yourself riding that new bicycle. You just fantasize how it feels to ride the new bicycle…This is how you set up a qwiff to get a response from the universe in a positive manner."

By focusing your energized thought on the finished goal of what you desire, you send a type of cosmic order into the Universe. As you act on the ideas and opportunities that come to you, after you place this focused intention into the world, you tend to attract what you desire into your reality.

Of course, this is nothing new. Here's what the mystic Neville wrote in his 1944 book, Feeling Is The Secret:

"To impress the subconscious with the desirable state you must assume the feeling that would be yours had you already realized your wish."

Or, as Neville hand signed in one of his books: "Assume the feeling of the wish fulfilled."

All of this is to say the Law of Attraction is real.

It may not be considered a law (yet) by strict scientific experiment, but it definitely works.

This is why you must monitor your thoughts and choose the ones you prefer. Those thoughts - especially when combined with emotion and image and focused on - tend to go out into the world as "qwiffs" and attract a match to create a physical new reality.

This is why new tools such as Mindy Audlin's "What if UP" thinking are so important. What you focus your thoughts on with emotion tends to come to pass. This is why you tend to attract what you love, fear, or hate. There's raw emotion behind those thoughts. Since you have a choice, why not choose the high road?

In fact, it's so important to keep "upping" your thoughts to better feeling ones that I saw this sign on the sales floor of my Miracles Coaches offices:

Again, the Law of Attraction is real.

Don't call it a law if that makes you feel better.

But the operating principle behind The Secret works.

Taylor's book is a fun, fast read. He's a friendly, conversational writer. He knows his readers are not physicists. He's patient. He's kind. He's wise.

I love his book. It's the best one I've seen yet explaining the science behind how your thinking creates your reality.

I also like that he included a chapter about skeptics. He urges you to ignore them. They aren't helping anyone. They are very often sinister, anecdotal, and without logic.

Instead, Dr. Taylor advises to "…focus our efforts on the brighter , happier side of things and simply test our theories. The outcome will shine light on the darker corners of humanity and wash them out."

Einstein put it this way in 1954 -

"A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty."

You can help yourself break free with Dr. Taylor's book. If you've been looking for scientific evidence for the Law of Attraction or the movie The Secret, you'll find it in the pages of The Science Behind the Secret.

You'll find the book in book stores and of course online at Amazon.

Meanwhile, watch the thoughts you "qwiff" into the world.

What you think does make a difference.

And that's no secret.

Diet Plans And Menus - Revisiting The Bikini Diet

There is no danger in merely reading about diets. But please, never undertake any diet without discussing its pros and cons with a qualified health care professional. You can really harm yourself by not taking proper precautions. Don't expect to lose pound after pound quickly and effortlessly. Keeping these precautions in mind you are now ready to consider the Bikini Diet.

The Bikini Diet was the brainchild of Maggie Greenwood-Robinson. Its very name should give you an idea of this diet's objectives. The initial phase lasts 30 days. During the 14 day second phase dieters may lose weight even more quickly. The final phase is called the stabilization phase. Because the daily calorie intake is between 900 and 1100 calories dieters lose weight relatively quickly. Learn how to make the Bikini soup to deal with raging hunger. It's fairly simple: simmer for an hour in a large pot 2 yellow squash, 1 large onion, 3 celery stalks, 800 grams (a little less than 2 pounds) of tomatoes, one half cabbage, 1.2 liters (about 1.25 quarts) of chicken bouillon, salt, and pepper. I know if I were allowed only 1100 calories a day, I'd be hitting this soup often.

Here are some Bikini Diet principles: Drink some 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. Eat lots of proteins. Take supplements such as antioxidants, calcium tablets, and lineolic acid. Practice a sport such as weight lifting.

Advantages of the Bikini Diet may include rapid weight loss. It is easy to choose what you eat because you eat two portions of the same food category each day. This diet's major disadvantage is its draconian nature. The diet can be very tiring and often leads to frustration.

Here is a sample menu: For breakfast have a peach milkshake and a cup of green tea or coffee. For lunch have an apple and a fat-free, sugar-free plain yoghurt. Your mid-afternoon snack is 75 grams (about two and a half ounces) of broiled chicken breast, a half cup of green beans, and a fat-free, sugar-free plain yoghurt. Supper means 100 grams (about three and a half ounces) of broiled haddock, a cup of squash and half a cup of kale.

A quick look at the Amazon web site revealed several Bikini diet books, by the founder herself and by others. Hardcover, softcover, and electronic copies are available. Don't get sidetracked by the multiple bikini books.

X Factor Outrage!

Do you ever get angry about 'X Factor' results? Or 'Strictly'?

Are you thinking or saying things like 'How could people vote for them? They're so stupid!'

Or 'What do those so-called judges know?'

Maybe you don't watch X Factor or 'Strictly'.

Perhaps it's something that your boss or colleague at work says or does that infuriates you.

Or the traffic that seems to get worse by the day.

Maybe you didn't get a seat on the train today? Again.

Whatever it is, our day can be filled with things that make us angry, right?

Well, that's how it seems. But things are not always as they seem are they?

And that's true of anger more than any other emotion, because of what lies under the surface and the peace and ease that come with a full understanding and expression of what's making us angry.

So back in the day, I wasn't being honest with myself.

Well maybe it wasn't about honesty, more about ignorance. I mean, I only knew what I knew, until I discovered something new.

Let me explain it like this.

For as long as anyone can remember, parents, teachers and carers have said, "You make mummy/daddy feel angry/sad/disappointed when you don't share/put your toys away/eat your dinner".

And "You make me feel so proud having passed your ballet exam/piano grade 5/SAT's/GCSE's/'A' levels"

So what was there here for me to discover?

That nobody other than me was making me angry, outraged, happy, scared or sad.

I was doing it to myself by what I was thinking. My self-talk. And what I was sensing. What I was picking up from what was not being spoken out loud.

This was going through my brain like a flash of lightning, so fast I didn't realise what I'd just said to myself or what I was sensing.

Could this be true?

Take a moment to check this out for yourself.

Just reflect for a moment.

Recall, if you will, the last time you felt some type of anger.

Now take a breath or two to slow yourself right down and just remember the actual words that you were saying to yourself.

Maybe the anger was about you, about something you'd done, not about anyone else.

Stop!

I'm going to place a bet with you right now.

That somewhere in your self talk, you used one or more words that belong to a nasty, vicious gang I call 'The Notorious Should Gang'.

They use violent, painful and harsh words and phrases like, 'Should', Ought', 'Must', Have to', Got to'.

Oh, and they also use the language of criticism, judgement, fault and blame.

Words like 'stupid', 'idiotic', 'ridiculous', 'crazy', for starters.

Well, did I win the bet?
(Bet I did!)

So when I 'proved' to myself the truth of this, I realised there are 2 things going on here that are really unhelpful.

Thing 1 - we have stayed 'up in our heads' with our thinking and language.

Thing 2 - we have made the mistake of muddling the stimulus of our anger with the cause.

And why would we not? It's very popular and fits the rules of the 'blame game' perfectly.

(I'll say more about this 'fascinating' game in the future).

So what to do instead?

Let's start by being honest with ourselves and finding out what is really going on when we're feeling angry.

Pay attention to what you're actually telling yourself. Listen to what else you're feeling, apart from angry.

(N.B. This step is really important because there's a vital connection between what we our feel and what we need.
Put simply, if we're having feelings we enjoy, there's little we lack.
If we're having feelings we're not enjoying, there's something we value that's missing).

What is important to you that's missing right now? What can be done to bring that 'missing piece' into your life right now?

'Thing 2' - by realising that we are creating our feelings of anger, we have the power to change what we're feeling.

Let me ask you a question.

Do you like getting angry?

Most don't but you may enjoy the 'pumped up' physical sensations that anger can create, courtesy of adrenaline.

There is a cost to creating this type of energy though. Apart from the physical damage done if we get angry a lot, it will disconnect us from others. It will push people away. Frighten others.

Is this what you want?

Whereas getting to the heart of what's missing allows you to ask for what you need. This connects us to others, brings us closer.

I'd call this true power. You are aware of what is going on in you, of the dissatisfaction that you feel.

But now with this knowledge, you can do something about it.

No staying in a vicious cycle, blaming yourself or someone else, no wasted energy finding fault, no adrenaline fuelled dramas.

There may well be a stimulus from outside ourselves, but we are most certainly the cause.

How could it be otherwise?

If you 'make me feel', that most certainly is a muddle we have got ourselves into.

And we no longer have a relationship.

Now we have an entanglement!

And the consequences of this are ugly.

It leads to 'emotional blackmail', the confusion of boundaries and responsibility between us.

We can start to believe that we are responsible for other people's feelings, for their happiness or unhappiness, rather than develop a responsibility to ourselves, for determining our own happiness and taking the action necessary to get what's important to us.

Alcohol Addiction: Creating an Intervention to Help Those in Need

Alcohol addiction affects many families and knowing when and how to get the help needed is certainly a positive first step. One of the major problems with alcohol addiction is recognizing when one's consumption of alcohol has gone beyond the "social drinking" stage and become a necessary part of the daily routine. This may at first appear to be a fine line which is crossed over a long period of time.

Admitting alcohol addiction problems can be the first hurdle to receiving treatment. By creating an intervention to help a loved one suffering from alcohol addiction, family can help to motivate the patient into finding the help they so desperately need. An intervention is much more than a heart to heart, creating an intervention to help with alcohol addiction is all about a focused approach and taking a proper course of action with help from professionals.

Many people who do suffer from alcohol addiction are simply blind to the effect that their problems are having on the rest of the family, whereas creating a focused intervention gives those loved ones the structured opportunities to affect change before a situation can escalate and become even worse.

An Intervention

An intervention to help someone suffering from alcohol addiction is a very carefully planned procedure which includes and involves everyone affected by the alcoholism - family, friends, loved ones; sometimes even work colleagues are involved in this type of intervention. These people all band together to approach the person suffering from alcohol addiction to speak about the problems and ask them to accept some sort of treatment for their addiction. The intervention should:

· Include a plan which was pre-organized and arranged with steps, guidelines, and goals clearly set out.

· Speak specifically about the problems involved with the person's alcohol addiction and the effect it has on the people involved in the intervention.

· Give a very clear message about what each person is prepared to do if the addict chooses not to accept the treatment.

How to Create the Intervention

The people who are going to be involved in creating and following through with the details of the intervention need to work together prior to the meeting and:

· Cooperate to create a plan ahead of time. This may very well involve the help of a social worker or professional counselor with experience in this type of treatment. Remember, this first meeting could be highly charged and unearth many feelings of anger, resentment, and betrayal so the help of a professional can be very worthwhile.

· Gather information. The people involved in creating the intervention must make sure that they educate themselves about alcohol addiction and the problems involved with it. At this stage, the intervention group may even make some arrangements for the alcoholic to be enrolled into some sort of treatment program

· Go through with the intervention. The group must decide who should be involved in meeting the person and going through with the intervention, then decide upon a time, date, and place and rehearse the messages that will be used to get across to the person suffering from alcohol addiction. It is important not to let this person know anything until the actual intervention takes place.

· Decide upon the consequences that you are willing to take if the person does not accept the conditions of the intervention. You may ask your partner to move out, move out yourself, or consider stopping them from having contact with loved ones.

· Have the intervention meeting. Do not tell the person suffering from alcohol addiction why you want to meet them. At the intervention, each member of the team must speak about how the addiction affects them and what they are prepared to do if the intervention is not followed.

· Follow up. This is critical. Empty promises and empty threats will not help the situation at all. Planning and creating an intervention for alcohol addiction takes a lot of time, effort, and love - which must not be wasted. The person suffering from addiction needs to know that the team means business and must follow the intervention plan.

If the intervention team has arranged for the person suffering from addiction to attend a treatment program, then this should happen immediately. Having a professional member of staff from your chosen addiction treatment center present at the intervention can help this to happen.

Thinking About Dieting - The Beverly Hills Diet

There is no danger in reading about diets. But please, do not undertake any diet without discussing its pros and cons with a qualified health care professional. You can really harm yourself if you don't take proper precautions. And don't expect to lose pound after pound quickly and effortlessly. Keeping these precautions in mind you are now ready to consider the Beverly Hills Diet.

The Beverly Hills Diet is also known as the Hollywood Diet because many movie stars are said to follow it. This diet lasts 4 to 6 weeks during which some are said to lose 7 to 9 kilograms (about 15 to 20 pounds). Dieters are restricted to 400 calories a day, which would stop me from continuing despite whatever the stars do. The initial phase lasts for three weeks. During the first week you only eat fruit and must absolutely respect the selected foods for the given day. This is a detoxification week. During the next two weeks you progressively reintegrate foods. The second phase lasts two weeks and leads to a balanced diet. The final phase lasts for one week when you are even allowed pizza and popcorn provided that you don't overdo overindulge. Here are some of Beverly Hills Diet principles.

Fully respect the given menus. During Phase 1 every day has its own specified food or fruits. For example, the very first day of the diet you are allowed pineapple and two bananas. On the third day of week three you eat zucchini in the morning, green beans and mushrooms at noon, and broccoli or cauliflower at supper. Phase 2 is also very strictly defined. For example, start the day off with two tablespoons of untreated bran and an unsweetened hot drink. Then wait for 45 minutes before your breakfast. You'll need a book to get the full list of foods, day by day.

Despite its name the Hollywood Diet has no advantages, except for some people the fact that they are following their idols. Another disadvantage in my book: this diet makes no room for wine. Absolutely do not follow this diet should if you suffer from diabetes, ulcers, or colon spasms. Others who must stay away include pregnant and breastfeeding women. There is a danger of fainting, muscular weakness, and nervousness.

Here is a sample menu: Menu 1 (Week 4, Day 1) Breakfast: Three kiwis. The mid-morning snack consists of two apples. Lunch: A hamburger with ketchup and mayonnaise. Supper is a halibut steak.

Time Management Tips: Two Mantras To Generate New Strength And New Potential Each New Day

Time management tips open time by helping you develop vital strengths. It's the power of your choices that free you to live by your deepest values. Why not the timeless wisdom of Eleanor Roosevelt, who successfully battled depression and endured profound life losses with heart and dignity? She was highly esteemed for her courage and humanity, and her words still ring true today. You deserve to be deeply fulfilled, and the following tips will support your efforts.

It's actually remarkable that we so rarely acknowledge or appreciate the new in an ever-changing world.

"We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face... we must do that which we think we cannot."

Eleanor Roosevelt inspired millions by forging opportunities from the most daunting circumstances. In this way, she created opportunity by refusing to indulge in fatalism or self-pity.

It was her self-renewal that made each moment new.

It is pragmatic as well as invigorating to welcome each day as a new beginning. If you seek ways to grow through adversity each day, you will always be successful in finding the ideal conditions!

Re-Engage With What Lingers To Finally Leave It Behind.

Are you eager to leave behind old baggage? Remember, you are attached to it until you extract its lessons. Profound learning transforms you.

So whatever today brings you, encounter it with heartfelt intention to evolve through it, even at the risk of becoming someone you've never known. When Eleanor Roosevelt counseled us, "You must do the things you think you cannot do", she was affirming her faith that the person who "cannot" is capable of changing into the person who can, and who does!

Are you willing to give yourself the comfort and intensity of self intimacy? This is truly the potential of self-renewal.

You Shape Your Time Through Your Perceptions.

When you awaken to a new morning and frame it as the adventure it is, you immediately feel energized and excited about what is to come. And because you are seeing things this way, each moment can open in new directions.

Of course, this isn't a one-time decision, but a choice made repeatedly throughout the day. Creating a personal mantra helps. With all the inspirational quotations available, you can collect a few, select your favorite or better yet, develop one unique to you. One of my personal favorites is, "How can I challenge myself today?"

The following quote is inspirational whenever you find yourself procrastinating.

"Do not wait until the conditions are perfect to begin. Beginning makes the conditions perfect." Alan Cohen

So, expand your potential by regularly outgrowing your comfort zone. Do you choose to find time for the amazing adventure of this new day? It's a choice that changes everything!

Are You On the Right Path?

Copyright (c) 2013 Joe Vitale

I flew to Houston recently to do one thing: test drive a Spyker, a hand made exotic super car from Holland.

It was a departure from my usual way of doing things. I never take a day off to fly to another city just to see a car. But it felt right. It felt like I almost couldn't stop myself from doing it.

That bothered me.

I wondered why I was so intent on seeing that car. It was a stretch to see it. I had to interrupt my day, my business, my life. But I know the power of stretching to increase personal growth. I also know the power of trusting those hunches. So I stretched.

Now here's where this gets interesting.

I thought I was going to see the Spyker. After all, that's why I booked the flight.

But from a higher plane (no pun intended), I actually went there for a completely different reason.

Yes, I went to see the car. That was the sole purpose of the trip. But once I knew I was going anyway, I started to think of what else I could do in Houston.

Recently I had been interviewed for three different CNN radio shows out of Houston. The host liked me and asked to talk about filming a TV show with me. I told him about Operation YES, my movement to end homelessness. He liked it. So we planned to talk again soon.

Well, since I was going to Houston anyway, I asked if he wanted to meet. He did.

As it turns out, I loved driving the Spyker car. It's fast and furious and oh so unique looking. But it's also tough to crawl in and out of it, like entering a fighter jet.

I didn't buy the car.

It appears the real reason I went there was the CNN interview. It was intense brainstorming, high energy, and led to solid action. We made plans to make a realty TV show out of my helping homeless people with the Law of Attraction and my other work.

So why did I go to Houston?

Was it the car or CNN?

Obviously I consciously thought it was for the car.

But unconsciously I was really going there for CNN.

The lesson here is to trust the process.

Even when it may seem like you are off track, you may actually be on the right path.

You might doubt yourself or feel disappointed when you take action for a reason (such as to see a car) and it doesn't work out.

But if you relax and breathe and remain aware, you will probably find there's a better reason for the action you took.

Since you can learn from everything and everyone, it's most likely true that you are always on the right path.

Assume that's true and see if life takes on more of an exciting charm.

What if what you're doing right now, no matter what it is or what you prefer, is exactly the right moment for you?

What if there's something in this moment that is for you to see and act on that you hadn't previously seen or considered?

Think about it.

For funsies, you can watch me meeting the 2008 Spyker Laviolette in Houston right here:

PS - Know you're on the right path and accelerate your results with the Law of Attraction and more.

The Calm After the Storm

Wow, that was some storm this morning here in the UK.

A once in a generation event, they say, on a par with the one back in October 1987.

It seems to have stirred up a couple of things in me too.

I'd say that the storm of '87 is remembered because it came as a shock.

We trusted the voice of authority, known as the weatherman (and they were all men back then) who reassured us that the storm would miss us.

Whoops!

But instead of blaming the Met Office for making a mistake, what if this was a wake up call, calling into question my long-standing habit of following the voices of authority without thinking for myself?

What if it was asking me to apply those 3 questions that are vital to ask before embarking on any venture or project?

Is it possible? Is it wise? Is it for me to do?

The answer to question No 1 comes from the intellect, and if I only listen to this answer as I have done in the past, I've ended up in a real mess. And I believe this is true of us all as humans. (Shall I give you my own examples, or have you your own?).

The answers to questions 2 & 3 come from a place you may not be in the habit of visiting. It certainly wasn't a habit of mine but I'm grateful that it is now.

It only requires a journey of 35 cms.

From your brain to your heart.

And this is not some romantic, poetic notion, not a 'pink and fluffy' piece of 'let's love everyone' waftiness.

Proof now abounds about the importance of the heart as a result of research stretching back over the last 20 years.

Suffice to say that it has been found to be so much more than a pump.

(If you'd like more information about the heart and its true function, I invite you to visit the Heartmath website at www.heartmath.org.)

For your own proof, can you recall the times when you just knew in your water that you needed to do something - or not do something? And you found it hard to explain the reasons.

I've learned to trust this as the intelligence of my heart working through my body and giving me the clearest signal ever.

It's what a former teacher of mine. Richard Wilkins, called the 'Ding or Bong' test.

So if you've never consciously worked your way through those 3 questions as a response to an idea, issue or project, give it a try the next time.

I've found it best to write my responses. It takes a bit more time, but I get clearer doing it that way.

And the benefit of doing any of this?

I've found it's increased the trust I have in myself for making wise choices.

And this has created the calm that makes it easier to make wise choices, or if I make a mistake, to recover more quickly than I used to be able to do.

It's made me more resistant to trusting naively the voices of authority (parents, teachers, doctors, police officers and politicians, to name a few).

So maybe it was my own naivety, my innocence, my desire to trust that caused me problems.

Am I alone here? What about you? Does this ring true for you at all?

There's a second aspect to this 'calm after the storm' theme.

You know about the 5 stages that we go through when forming any type of relationship don't you?

Forming Storming Norming Performing Mourning

It's my belief that the least popular stage is 'Storming' (followed by 'Mourning', which I'll write about in a future article).

Now for the word 'storming', let's substitute the word 'conflict', 'disagreeing', 'having a row'.

I'll be the first to say I don't much like conflict.

Surprising?

Well, maybe, but I like to think that most of me is a regular human. This means I've been on the receiving and giving end of harsh words.

Fortunately not more than that.

So yes, I'd learned some unhelpful habits.

I didn't like what I said and did or how I felt physically when I got cross.

Eventually I realised that one of the problems was I kept heading to the land of 'Win-Lose', a place I didn't want to go.

This proved a powerful motivator to find a different way to engage in conflict without 'getting personal'.

Now I've learned to choose language that explains clearly what I'm passionate about whilst listening respectfully to others when it's their turn.

And taking turns, I have learned is a core component of empathy.

Being willing to consider others' perspectives on an issue as well as hold true to mine.

Whatever the issue, whatever the decision to make.

Whether that's agreeing a holiday destination, what to cook for tea, how to deal with a child who doesn't want to go to bed at a time that works for you or how to deal with a medical condition.

And now, even in the fiercest of storms, following this trusted of maps, I have learned to navigate my way safely & swiftly to the land of 'Win-Win'.

I'm pleased that I have successfully negotiated a result that genuinely works for everyone concerned.

And just as importantly is not only using the map myself, but being able to teach the map to others.

Drug Addiction Recovery is Best with a Layered Approach

Drug addiction recovery may seem like an impossible mountain to climb, but the chance of recovery is always within reach - it really doesn't matter how hopeless the situation may seem, it is possible to change. Drug addiction treatment does need a layered approach. It is important that someone with a drug addiction gets the best support and treatment, yet also addresses the root cause of the addiction in the first place. In metaphor, the road to drug addiction recovery is long and bumpy with many possible potholes along the way, but just deciding that it is a road you want to take is a very important first step.

Drug Addiction Step 1 - Make the Decision to Change

Making the decision to change your life is the first and often the most important step towards recovery from drug addiction. You probably realize that drug addiction is affecting your life and your loved ones, but it still remains - this change is not going to be easy and will involve many different things.

• How you deal with stress.

• How you spend your free time.

• Who you spend your time with.

• Your opinion about yourself.

It's okay to be torn about the decision to change your life; it will entail some major changes about which you may be confused. It is going to take a lot of time, motivation, commitment, and support.

Here are a few tips to help you make the important decision to fight your drug addiction problems:

• Keep a record of your drug use - this way you will begin to see how much it is affecting your life.

• Make a list of the pluses and minuses of quitting - the costs, the benefits and everything in between.

• Think about how your drug addiction has affected your family and loved ones.

• Talk to someone who you trust, and ask them what they really feel about your drug addiction.

• Ask yourself what is preventing you from making the change, what could really help you to fight your drug addiction.

Drug Addiction Step 2 - Treatment Options

It is important to remember that there is no magic formula for drug addiction treatment - everybody is different and tailor-made treatment programs should be developed for each individual.

It is important that you find a drug addiction clinic which is prepared and able to customize a treatment program specifically for your needs. There are many branches of treatment which need to be brought together for a successful drug addiction program - drug addiction does affect your whole life, which includes not just your health but also the health of your relationships, career and overall psychological wellbeing. You need to follow a drug addiction program which addresses all of these things, and enlists the family as helpers to ascertain the reason why you turned to drugs in the beginning.

If drugs were your way to handling stressful situations then you will need to learn other methods of stress management as a part of your drug addiction treatment to prevent the whole cycle from returning.

Remember that this is no quick fix - you may enroll in a residential drug addiction treatment program, or an outpatient treatment program may be more suitable for your needs. Make sure that the rehab center you choose can combine many different elements of drug addiction and includes a tailor-made relapse prevention program which involves your family and loved ones.

Help with drug addiction may also entail treatment for other psychological or medical issues - often necessitating in combined drug addiction and mental health treatment programs. If all of these issues can be addressed under one roof, you have a much better chance of success.

Drug Addiction Step 3 - Your Support Network

No man is an island, you cannot do this alone so don't be ashamed to reach out for support. A solid system of support is essential for your success - you need people around you to guide you, encourage you, support you and provide an ear when the going gets particularly tough.

• Friends and family should provide the basis of your support network. Lean on them and let them help you.

• It may be necessary to build a whole new network of friends if your former social life was solely revolving around drugs. A group of sober, drug free friends are essential for your recovery. Join an evening class, learn a new skill, go to church, join a new social group, volunteer - integrate with new, sober friends.

• You may find it necessary to move into a sober, drug free home at the beginning of your drug addiction treatment. If you do not have a drug free, supportive living situation to go to this could be your only option.

• Join a support group and attend the meetings - make it a priority. It can really help to spend time with people who know exactly the problems you are facing and what you are going through.

Drug Addiction Step 4 - Learn how to Cope with Stress

If you have chosen a professional rehab center which provides a combined drug addiction program then this should all be a part of the service. Some ideas for stress relief include meditation, exercise, relaxing strategies, yoga and breathing exercises to challenge your own self defeatist or negative thoughts.

Drug Addiction - The Final Steps

You should be well on your way to a healthy, drug free life. In order to maintain this new lifestyle, however, it is important that you do things you enjoy and get involved in activities that bring you pleasure. Reward yourself and fill your life with purpose, and addiction will begin to lose the power it once had over you.

Take up a new hobby, get a pet (dogs love walking and walking is such a good way of relieving stress), become involved in your local community, maintain healthy eating habits, and keep away from any triggers that might hamper your progress. Stay away from clubs and bars, don't be tempted to contact old drug taking buddies, and stay healthy.

A healthful life is not just beneficial to you. Many others will become recipients of the rewards of your recovered life. Start today by calling a trusted addiction treatment facility to learn more and start your road to a new you.

The Money Mind Trick

Copyright (c) 2013 Joe Vitale

A massage therapist I know asked me if he should start asking people to donate money for his services rather than pay a specific price. He thought the former would be the ultimate demonstration of abundance consciousness.

What do you think?

Is leaving the payment up to the customer or client a sign of prosperity?

I say NO.

Not wanting to charge for your services is a cop out. It's a mind trick. It's a sly way to trick yourself into thinking you're so prosperous you don't need to charge, where in face you're actually saying you're so afraid of money that you don't dare ask for what you want.

Think about it.

If your electric company said, "Hey, we're prosperous, so just pay us what you think we're worth," what would you pay them?

Be honest. Most people would practice scarcity consciousness and pay little or nothing, even when the service provided is one most of us need to survive comfortably.

Don't think you're immune to the money mind trick.

Decades ago a therapist I knew experimented with not charging for his service, charging a high fee, and charging a low fee.

The people who saw him for free or the low fee didn't respect him, or his time, and didn't change.

The clients who paid the higher fee showed up on time, paid attention, did the work, and got better results.

Money is just a tool, but it's a loaded gun emotionally. Unless you get clear of the meanings around it, you'll be like the massage therapist who thought he was being prosperous by asking for love offerings, when in fact he was being afraid.

I wrote an entire book to help you get clear around money, called Attract Money Now. I'm giving the e-book version of it away to take away your excuses for not being prosperous.

Have you asked for the book?

Have you read it?

Have you applied the seven principles in it?

Face it. You need money to accomplish most of what you want in life.

Even people who want to make a difference in struggling countries, find that having money makes it easier to make that difference.

I've been able to donate thousands of dollars to build schools, fix schools, and help children in need, as well as start a movement to end homelessness which CNN will televise.

Even people who want to volunteer for non-profit organizations find that they need money to live, travel, eat and work.

A friend of mine once said, "I want to do volunteer work, but I can't afford it."

Money is a powerful tool. You can use it however you please, but only if you have it to begin with.

Get clear with money and attract more of the results you want in life.

Begin by reading my book. Just click right here.

Remember, it's free.

But if you'd feel better buying the hardcover version of the book, and if that would get you to actually read and implement what you learn, it's available right here.

Consider what Arnold Patent wrote, "The sole purpose of money is to express appreciation."

Go express some.
