5 Things To Stop Wasting Your Life On

Living in this confusing world can be quite challenging. We want to make the most out of life, yet in our quest, we seems to latch on to things that only bring us temporary happiness. Too often, we distract ourselves with temporary and fleeting material things in an effort to try to enjoy life to its fullest.

We bury our noses in work, or exercise, or superficial love affairs, hoping to escape the madness that comes with living. We go through great lengths to avoid the feeling of being alone - not realizing that when we cling on to temporary things, we only get even more unhappy. To a certain point, it becomes exhausting. You then realize that you are just wasting your life needlessly… and that you let life pass you by.

How do you get true happiness? Here are some things people often waste their lives doing, which you must avoid in order to live a fuller life

Trying hard to avoid pain and defeat. These two may be painful, but they help you learn how to be stronger. And no matter how painful things get, they will still turn out okay in the end. There are some things in this world that are inevitable and you must encounter, and pain and defeat are definitely some of those things. There's no avoiding them - and you should not retreat to your corner trying to avoid all situations which may bring you pain, just because you don't want to get hurt. Remember, if you are too scared to take risks, then you will also never experience triumph and jubilation. Toughen up.

Holding on to what's no longer there. If you are one of those who live in a sea of memories from the past, and refuse to live in the present, then you are definitely wasting your life. You need to close old doors and open newly-built windows. If you keep on looking back, you will never move forward. Learn to accept that the past is gone, and you need to live your present in order to pave the way for the future. It's that simple - the truth is, you've already gone through your past, yet here you are in the present. This means that moving forward is inevitable, so stop thinking of what was - think what is.

Having a model in your head of how things should be. Stop thinking that things should only go the way you want it to go. As we go through the motions of life, we experience situations, chance encounters and events that all shape our realities. Don't let you concept of how things should deter you from experiencing what could potentially be enjoyable and fulfilling. Do that and you will remain stagnant and non-moving - which isn't really a great way to live life.

Putting yourself down for being imperfect. Is there really such as thing as perfection? The truth is, if anyone or anything was perfect, then people will never try anymore to improve or work to be their best -simple as that. The concept of perfection is only that - a mere concept. Each person has his/her own strengths and weaknesses and these are the things that make them unique and interesting.

Waiting too much. Now if ever there was anything that really would something you are wasting your life on, then it would be waiting…and waiting…and waiting. Waiting for the perfect timing, the perfect job, the perfect partner and the perfect opportunity. Reality check - You got to go out there and search for them yourself! If you keep waiting for things to fall on your lap, then you have to prep yourself up for major disappointment. Life is too short to make all sorts of excuses why you cannot go get them for yourself. Start by taking that first step forward - slowly, you will realize that it's not that difficult to go after things yourself.
