"Faith is complete trust and total dependence on the Almighty power of God moving in your life"- Pastor Sabra
We all operate in the power of belief. Some believe the bible, some the constitution and others the latest news on TMZ. But rest assured, we all operate in the power of belief.
I recall a day at the barber shop when a lady came in screaming "he is dead… he is dead… Little Wayne is Dead…" Alarmed, another inquired as to how she knew this was fact. Her response was "I heard it on TMZ and they always get it right". The crowd all became saddened as all began lamenting the reported factual death of the rap superstar. Their confidence and belief in the story supported by the woman's belief in the power of TMZ, had me believing the rapper was dead.
To make that long story short, the lady was wrong. She believed a lie. Although her foundation was a lie, her belief was real. Peruse the words of Henry Ford on this subject:
"Whether you believe you can do a thing or not, you are right."- Henry Ford
What do you believe? What do you dream? What are your limitations? You most certainly believe something, someone or some type of substance. What are y0our cognitions and your life philosophies? Here are five of my favorite quotes from the mind of Mr. Henry Ford:
"Failure is simply an opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently."
"Don't find fault, find a remedy; anybody can complain"
"Any man who thinks he can be happy and prosperous by letting the government take care of him better take a closer look at the American Indian."
"The whole secret of a successful life is to find out what is one's destiny to do, and then do it."
"One of the greatest discoveries a person makes, one of their great surprises, is to find they can do what they were afraid they couldn't do."
There are many great quotes from the mind of Mr. Henry Ford. The one word that sums of Mr. Ford is "Belief". One of the most moving stories illustrating Mr. Ford's resolve to "Believe" is contained in the 8 cylinder engine. When this industrial genuis decided to produce his legendary V-8 motor, he decided to build an engine with the entire eight cylinders cast in one block. Then Mr. Ford instructed some of the best engineering minds in the world to fabricate a blue print for the engine. The design was placed on paper, but the engineers agreed, to a man, that it was simply impossible to cast an eight-cylinder engine-block in one piece. So they proceeded to share the news with Mr. Ford whom replied "'Produce it anyway."
I believe the greatest foundation for the assurance of belief is God's Word- Jesus Christ! The man in this biblical story held that same belief.
In this article, we study the miracle Healing of the Centurion's Servant. The life application theme for this lesson is "The Power of Belief".
We will study the back story, the life significance and then be guided in the art of prayer.
First, The Back Story-
One day in Capernaum Jesus was introduced to a Centurion's need. A centurion was a soldier in command of 100 fighting men. One lesson communicates others went to bid on behalf of this soldier while other places in the gospel reveal the soldier went direct.
In any case, this Centurion came to Jesus asking to have his servant, who was close to death, healed. When Jesus said he would come and cure the servant, the Centurion answered that he was not worthy to have Jesus come under his roof, but to only speak the Word, and his servant will be healed.
Jesus was amazed at this and told his followers, that not even in Israel had he found such faith. Jesus then told the Centurion "Go, let it be done for you according to your faith". The servant was healed in that hour. The soldier found favor with man and favor with God.
Second, The Life Application:
The power of life and death are in the tongue. Notice the Centurion proclaimed to Jesus, that if he merely said his servant would be healed, then he would be. The same goes for you today. If you are believing for a miracle, be sure you are speaking it out of your mouth. Don't speak harshly or negatively. You have what you say, so be sure you are saying the right things.
Third, The Miracle Prayer of Possibility:
Memory Verses
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Proverbs 18:21 NKJV
"So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Isaiah 55:11 KJV
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." 1 Peter 3:15 NIV
Today's Miracle Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I pray that you give me wisdom to speak life out of my mouth. I plead the blood over every word that comes out of my mouth so that I don't say anything to derail myself or others from your divine path. In Jesus' name. Amen.
To Your Success!
