Do Women Like Alpha Males?

Alpha is the first letter of the Greek alphabet. In astronomy, it is the brightest star in a constellation. In common parlance, alpha means to be the first.

Alpha males are guys who seem to be leading the pack, the hunter, the ever-reliable male god. They are all around us, in the ranks burly blue collar workers to the impeccable corporate leaders. So why do women like alpha males; or do they?

Women do not only like alpha males; they adore them! Alpha males are the stuff that women's romantic imaginations are of. These are men who get women's attention wherever they go.

The attraction lies in the power seemingly possessed by alpha males. It's not really just about the money but it is about strength in character and the ability to be respected by his peers.

A woman defines an alpha male as someone who is vocal about what he wants and who does everything to get it. An alpha male is not just cocky our loud, but there is a semblance of authority in his voice that seems to attract others, male or female. An alpha male is filled with confidence about his looks though he may not be handsome and is confident about his intelligence though he may not be a Wharton graduate.

In the animal kingdom the alpha males are those who lead the pack with an aggressive behavior. The animals have their own social structure where the alpha or the dominant males get to mate with the females, with the principle that the alpha males will most probably produce better offsprings. Same goes for the alpha males in the society of humans.

Women describe alpha males as those with an innate superiority and who literally leads the pack. These are males who are aggressive and assertive despite their limitations.

To be able to understand an alpha male, one has to get to know his characteristics such as but not limited to being:

Born leaders

Alpha males are born to lead the pack. They are known to be the peacemakers and the ones responsible for stopping fights after and aggression usually started off by a bully. These men are usually dignified men who have leadership capabilities and they sometimes rule their world. An alpha male is a no nonsense leader who cannot be dictated upon and who stands by his principles.

Gandhi is an alpha male. He is a charismatic leader who refused to be pressured into giving up his cause. He was able to win his battle by espousing non-violence. Microsoft czar Bill Gates is an example of an alpha male who continues to change the world and its people. There are many alpha males in a variety of settings, all of whom have provided inspiration and great leadership to their sectors. Most alpha males are attracted and married to strong and outstanding women.

Confident

Alpha males are so sure of themselves but not to point of being cocky. They have high self esteem, believing that they have the power to do anything they want and to achieve their dreams. They know they have that special something within them but they do not boat nor talk about their strength.

Women are attracted to the alpha because of the confidence that emanates from them. This confidence manifests itself in the way he carries himself and the way he deals with others. This confidence is shown in the way he does things and treats other people. The alpha male's high self esteem makes him confident that he can get the best girl in town. The truth is, the girls usually flock around him.

Assertive

Being confident of himself and in what he can achieve, the alpha male is always assertive but not to the point of being pushy. He knows what he wants and how to get it. He asserts his rights and the rights of his friends. This may be the reason why alpha males are so popular with the pack. He leads them and gives them protection. Women love the alpha male for being assertive, of being able to know he can do it and doing something to achieve what he wants to do.

Born leaders, confident and assertive. These are the qualities that make women swoon over the alpha male. Need we say more?

Diet Menus And Plans - Reviewing The Creole Diet

The Creole Diet, based on Creole cuisine, was created by Marie-Antoinette Sejean-Ortole, a professional dietician. It proposes balanced, protein-rich menus in three phases. The initial phase lasts for ten days. During this phase you should eat at least three meals a day, and drink between a liter and a liter and a half daily. This phases includes three shock days in which you eat 300 grams (about 10 ounces) of meat or fish, 300 grams of white cheese containing from 0% to 20% butterfat or two yogurts with a small quantity of light cheese, as much green salad as you wish, and three bowls of green soup or 300 grams of green vegetables. Spread this food over the entire day. You cook the food without any grease or oil, but you may season your salad with a light dressing. Days 1, 5, and 8 are the special days. The menus for the remaining days are very well defined.

Phase 2 lasts for 20 days. Your shock days are days 1, 8, and 15. On these days add 150 to 200 grams (about 5 to 7 ounces) of soy bean sprouts to the previous shock day menus. And replace the 300 grams of meat or fish with 300 grams of fish broth. Once again, the menus for the other days are very well defined. At the end of phase 2 make sure to practice a sport such as speed walking, swimming, or bicycling. Exercise at your rhythm for 40 minutes, three times per week. Phase 3 is stabilization. You are now allowed one or two glasses of wine with meals.

A major advantage of the Creole Diet is that the meals are varied and balanced. Despite the fact that it's Creole cuisine, most of the food is easy to find. One disadvantage is that fruits are absent from Phase 1. And individuals unfamiliar with Creole cuisine will have to learn many recipes. You will also have to locate a book, as discussed below.

Here is a sample menu: Menu (Phase 3) Breakfast is two slices of whole grain bread, a tablespoon of jam, an egg, an apple, and a cup of tea or coffee. Lunch means 200 grams (about 7 ounces) of roast pork, spinach, 150 grams (about 5 ounces of noodles), a yoghurt, and half a cantaloupe. Supper: Grilled chicken accompanied by creole rice, 150 grams of lentils, a non-fat fruit yoghurt and a small mango.

A quick look at the Amazon web site revealed no copies of this book or in fact any book by Madame Sejean-Ortole. Such books may be found on the Internet, but they are in French only.

Playing The Breaks

I am a judgment broker who a lot. I've learned to love the inevitable zero time. In this article, zero time is when nothing is happening, and the world seems to be sleeping. Most businesses currently experience lots of really slow times. Also, with most businesses, from about (for example, 5 in the afternoon until 9 AM) in the morning each business day, and weekends and holidays, the majority of of the stuff that arrives is only garbage. I call these times, the "zero" time, the wonderful opportunity that lets me to get busy and have fun.

I now appreciate the zero. When nothing is coming, I always find something constructive to do. Examples include doing chores, doing maintenance, working on websites and articles, smiling, listening to music or podcasts, watching comedy on the television, meditating, ripping music, petting my cat, eating, listening to phone messages, shopping, sleeping, chatting with friends on forums, relaxing, cooking, cleaning things, ripping or editing music, and more.

Nothing or empty space, the vacuum, the zero, and the void; are not really nothing. As that old Beatles song lyric said: "the void is shining". The amazing zero time contains awesome energy and potential, and is the condition under which the majority of actions occur. Without the void (empty space), there could be no structures, forms, or life.

While the zero time is in effect, an almost unlimited opportunity of potential actions could happen; which include sleeping, eating, learning something, working, shopping, making a backup of the PC, and/or spending some time with your family, pets, or friends.

All of life flashes off and on, either slowly or quickly. Just because the bright sun sets each evening, doesn't mean any of us lose any sunlight. Taking a constructive step is usually a lot preferable to worrying over the fact that nothing is happening right now.

I always attempt to focus on the present, and make "now" the best it can be. When I usually focus on what I do in the now, the long term results comes naturally. I will win in the long term, when I consistently take correct actions "now".

It is right now and the future that really counts. The unique and awesome power in now allows me to work on what is right for now or the future. I always try to think much about our history, or any possible outcomes. I remember my past, however my past doesn't limit my choice of actions very much. Like that Go Go's song lyric said: "You cannot stop the world, so don't let the world stop you".

The full School Of Fish song named "Three Strange Days", starts with the words "I am gonna change how our world affects me; I'm going to dance in the face of all which could be". What happens or comes into your life cannot be guaranteed. What happens, usually happens "Presto", in a part of the awesome "zero" periods.

It's a good idea to stay focused more on the now, and much less on the past and the future. Your chances of bettering the future, can depend on what you make a habit of doing in the many "nows". There is usually something you could do. Mobile devices, computers, and TV entertainment choices; can help make time pass more quickly, and/or some types and tasks of work, much more enjoyable.

Try not to cling desperately to people or things. Make an effort to let everything occur, or help to cause things to occur. Do your best, and then allow the chips to fall wherever they may. In my case, the zero is the time when the lord/universe is saying: "It's your chance to act". The late Alan Watts was amazingly smart, Google him, and on YouTube, listen to him. I agree with around 90% of what Alan said and wrote.

Diet Menus And Plans - Reviewing The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet

The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet was designed by Doctors Richard and Rachel Heller. As its name suggests, an objective of this diet is reducing dieters' dependence on carbohydrates, or in less technical terms, sugars. The body transforms carbohydrates into glycogens and converts the excess into fatty tissue. After a meal containing carbohydrates the blood sugar level increases and insulin acts to bring it down, making the individual feel hungry. By diminishing insulin secretion and so absorbing less carbohydrates the body burns more fat. This diet has two phases, a base phase and a stabilization phase. The initial phase lasts for 14 days but it may be extended for additional weight loss. The second phase also tries to lower your insulin level. It lets you adapt to your new lifestyle. Here are some of the principles.

Phase 1. Reward yourself with a special meal once per day. The selected meal may be breakfast, lunch, or supper. It's a large green salad and a plate, which is divided into three equal parts: protein-rich food such as meat, poultry, fish, cheese, or tofu; vegetables (starchy vegetables such as potatoes are excluded); and carbohydrate-rich food such as potato chips, cookies, fruit or fruit juice, and sweets. By finishing this meal in less than an hour you will maintain your insulin at a lower level than if you eat more slowly. Your other meals should contain half protein-rich foods and half fiber-rich vegetables. Weigh yourself once a day. Phase 2 extends phase 1 and add one of several options that include physical activity, glutamate reduction, stress control, caffeine reduction and others. The list is long and a bit complicated.

The Carbohydrate Addicts Diet has the advantage of reducing some people's glucide dependency. The initial phase is considered easy to follow. A disadvantage is that the second phase is not really a stabilization phase. Constipation may be a problem. From my point of view, the absence of wine in this diet is a disadvantage.

Here is a sample menu: For breakfast enjoy an omelet made with ham and mushrooms accompanied by lean bacon and a cup of tea. Lunch means a chicken and celery salad with zucchini, chicken with olives, and a bottle of carbonated water. For supper indulge in a spinach and cucumber salad, cauliflower, lamb kabobs, and whole grain rice. For dessert floating islands, a light, tasty French dessert based on egg whites.

A quick perusal of the amazon web site revealed a few inexpensive carbohydrate addicts diet books and cook books. Remember, if you want to follow this diet you really must get a book.

How You Can Help Someone With Depression

Having a loved one who suffers from depression can be an extremely difficult situation.

Many people want to be able to help their loved one, but they don't know exactly how to go about it. While you will be unable to clear another person's depression, there are some ways you can be supportive and really helpful. Accept the fact that you, by yourself, cannot make them better - Clinical depression should be treated by a mental health professional. Many loved ones of depressed individuals become frustrated when all of their best efforts don't seem to help break the person out of the cycle of depression. Unfortunately, you alone can't make your loved one better, but your support can be extremely meaningful.

Be there for them - Although you won't be able to make them feel 100% better, knowing that you are there when they need someone to hold their hand, give them a hug, or lend a shoulder to cry on will be very comforting.

Don't judge them - It can be really difficult for a person who has not personally experienced depression to understand. You might be wondering, "why can't she just SNAP out of it?!" or "why is he always looking at everything from the negative viewpoint?" With depressed people it's not something that they can just choose to snap out of. Try not to be judgemental and instead listen and be open to their experience.

Educate yourself - Learning about depression can help you know what your loved one is up against. It will also help you in learning how to best support them.

Be supportive of their treatment - Clinical depression should be treated by a mental health professional, but only the depressed person can make decisions about their treatment. In other words, if your loved one doesn't want treatment right now, there isn't much you can say or do to convince them. You can offer them the names of professionals that can help them, but the rest is up to them. If they have already sought treatment, make sure they know how proud you are of them for seeking help.

Don't compare - Even if you yourself have experienced depression, each person's experience will be different. Comparing what you have gone through to their depression will probably not make them feel better, even though you likely intended it to.

Don't give advice - Though this is a normal reaction when someone you care about is in need, the depressed person may not respond well to being given advice. A better way is to ask them what you can do in order to help. Even if your loved one can't think of any way you can help, they will appreciate you having offered. And, it doesn't have to be a single offer, make sure they understand that you will be there, should they need you. When a friend of loved one is depressed, it's natural to want to do everything possible to help. Even though you can't heal their depression, your support can make a real difference.
